The time read 06:00, when my alarm rang. I opened our group chat and texted, 'whoever isn't ready by 7am, we'll meet in Cape Town.'

A person or two from each room replied letting me know that they were up.

I got up and undressed and attempt to wake Didi up. "Baby, wake up," I whisper. She wont budge.

I press my lips against hers and after a few seconds, she kisses me back. "You're up," I smile. "And you have really bad breathe," she whispered and I laughed.

"Wanna shower together?" I offered and she got up immediately. "No sex. It's gonna delay us," she says and I nod.

We put all our things in the car after getting ready. The time was 07:03 when we sat down and only Ora was missing from breakfast.

"He's coming down now," Jabu said after texting Ora. Ora quickly rushed to put his things down and joined us for breakfast.

*

By 07:30, we were all checked out and outside getting ready to leave. "I'll drive," I say to Didi. She looks really tired. "You can stop after 5 or so hours and I'll drive," she said and I nodded.

"Maya, lead the way," Lesedi screamed from Lea's car. I started the car and pulled out of the parking.

I drove to the just outside the gate and everyone stopped behind each other. "What's wrong?" Didi asked. "Nothing, baby. I have an important question to ask," I say and get out of the car.

Everyone was already out of their cars and waiting for me. "Are your tanks full?" I ask and they all said no.

"Okay, were gonna stop at a gas station. Please refill them," I say and they all nod.

"You'll led the way?" Mpumi asks and I nod. "Cool," Amo says and we all head to the gas station.

Didi paid for the refill this time and we all took a few pictures. The sky was cloudy and it was the perfect traveling weather.

Didi played a 14 hour playlist I once made for her when we drove out of the gas station.

At 13:54, we drove into Beaufort West. I was in the lead, followed by Ora, Lea, Nokulunga, Jabu, Mpumi, Amo and then Nolo.

"Baby, I'm a bit tired," I say. "Stop right here and I'll drive," Didi said. I switched on my indicator and parked on the left of the road. All my friends parked behind us.

"What's going on?" Ora yelled with his head out of the window. "We're just switching," I said and climbed into the passenger seat.

I watched Didi adjust the seat by lowering it and taking it back a bit. She's way taller than me.

She held onto the wheel with both hands and indicated to the right. She watched the mirror closely as Gundo drove onto the road and let us in in front of her.

Didi pressed the gas and took the middle lane. She indicated into the right lane and off we went.

A notification caused me to look at my phone.

Sihle: Why is Didi so fast though?
Almost everyone in the group sent laughing emojis and I read the text to Didi making her laugh.

"I'll slow down and let them take the lead for an hour or so," Didi said and took the left lane. All our friends drove past us at high speeds.

"Wanna buy me ice cream?" I asked her and she lowers the speed to stop at a gas station.

"We can sit out
here and eat it," I say to her after we buy it. We sat under the cloudy sky and had our ice cream. After 20 or so minutes, I had energy and felt like driving. We quickly got some water and a few other snacks for the road.

"I'll drive," I said excitedly. "Okay baby," she smirked and handed me the keys.

I kept a speed of 230km/h and about 10 minutes later, I drove past all my friends except for Mpumi. She's long gone.

We both got notifications and Didi checked her phone.

Lesedi: Didi, calm down.
Bonolo: Oh my soul. Didi though.
Didi: It's actually Maya who's driving.
Puse: I'm not surprised.
Laughing emojis came from almost everyone and Didi put her phone down.
