"Please do a fluffy and soft one shot of Erik and the reader at their small wedding and giving their wedding vows. I wanna see what that would be like with Erik crying tears of joy and all since someone was actually willing to marry him." - svnrising
This will be based off of traditional French weddings. In France, they do not have bridesmaids or best men, but witnesses who can confirm the marriage ceremony took place.
I stand across from my fiancé, who is dressed in a fancy suit. I feel the heaviness of the white wedding dress I am in. The veil makes my vision unclear, but I can still see his handsome face. My body feels heavy but light at the same time as my mind is racing with excitement. I am only a few minutes away from being married to Erik, the man who saved me with his music.
For our wedding, we had to hold it in Erik's lair since he's still a wanted criminal. Thankfully, our opera friends all attended. Little Meg is our flower girl. I chose Christine to be my witness and Erik begrudgingly chose Raoul as his. Madame Giry sat in the audience with Meg. Surprisingly, Carlotta agreed to attend and she brought Piangi with her. Monsieur Andre and Monsieur Firmin claimed to have other matters to attend to, but they offered their congratulations. The maestro, who Erik and I both like, agreed to be our marriage officiant.
Today is going to be one of the best days of my life. Erik smiles lovingly toward me and I return the smile. I convinced him to keep his mask off for the ceremony, but he kept the wig on. He knows I think he looks beautiful without the mask and the wig, but he insisted to keep up his appearance a little bit.
The maestro finished up the traditional speech and then nodded to Erik, signaling that it is time for him to say his vows. Erik looks directly at me and takes in a deep breath. "I, Erik Destler, take you, (Y/N) (L/N), to be my wife," His voice shakes a little as if he's afraid he'll mess up. "...to have and to hold from this day forward," He nearly moves to hug me, but stops himself. As much as he wants to get this over with as quickly as possible, he holds himself back to stay true to tradition. I can see in his eyes how desperately he wants to embrace me and call me his wife. "...for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health," His smile sends warm shivers up my spine. With the last phrase, Erik finishes strong, "to love and to cherish; till death separates us."
The maestro turns to me now. I try to calm my racing heart but fail, "I, (Y/N) (L/N), take you, Erik Destler, to be my husband," I can't control the smile on my face, and neither can Erik, who is smiling like the happiest man on Earth. Tears of joy pile up in his eyes, threatening to spill over. I understand how he is feeling. After being treated poorly for so long, he can hardly comprehend that I want to marry him. This moment is unbelievable to him and yet here we are. I truly love him as he loves me and I will spend the rest of my life proving it to him. He is my whole world. "...to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health," Tears of joy form in my eyes as I say the last phrase, "to love and to cherish; till death separates us."
Madame Giry walks up and presents the rings. Erik grabs one and holds his hand out for me. He gently slides the ring onto my finger and then I do the same for him. The maestro closes the wedding script and, with a smile, announces "You may now kiss the bride." Before I could move, Erik's lips connect with mine and his arms wrap around my body to pull me in. Everyone claps and a few people cheer, but I can barely pay attention to them. I kiss Erik back passionately as his tears fall onto my cheeks, mixing with my own. I am now married to the man I love, and it is a dream come true.
