"Morning Sweetheart, you looking forward to your shopping trip?" Freddie asks Amelia when she came down to breakfast that morning.
"Yes, I am. I'm meeting Veronica there in an hour along with Brie, Jessy and Rosie, we're finding their bridesmaid dresses at the same time," She smiles adding some milk to her coffee. Amelia has told the girls and Ben about her dad's illness and they are all as gutted as her especially Jessica.
Glad to see her a lot brighter today, Jim smiles. The news of Freddie being ill had really knocked her, "Do you know what you're looking for?" He asks.
Tired her head full of wedding stuff, she rubs the sleep from her eyes, "Not a clue. The bridesmaids and the flower girls are in yellow since the colour scheme is yellow and blue."
"Such a beautiful colour scheme. Well don't worry about the price darling because I will be paying, I don't want you to even look at a price tag," Freddie is annoyed because she won't let him pay for the entire wedding but he would insist on paying for the dresses.
She is aware that she won't win on this but she'd try anyway, "Dad you really don't have to, I have the..."
He puts his hand up signalling her to stop, "I know you have the money but that is not the point, I want to pay for your dress and the bridesmaids. You won't let me pay for the entire wedding but I want to pay for something and it will be the dress, no arguments."
Sighing in defeat she sits to eat for food, "Will you come with me?"
"What to the shop?" Freddie's eyes lit up, "Absolutely I'll be there in a heartbeat but don't you want it to be just a girls trip."
"But you have a better eye for style than any girl I know. And I know you will tell me your honest opinion if something doesn't look right. Please come, it's only the groom that can't see the dress," Everything she just said is entirely true but she also wants to share as many moments like this as she can before he's gone.
Freddie beams, "I'd better go and get changed then." He heads upstairs but Amelia stays put.
Once he is out of earshot Jim smiles eyeing her suspiciously, "You just want to stand time with him don't you?"
She mentally kicks herself when tears prick her eyes but she nods, "As much as possible."
------
They arrive at the boutique 'White Roses' and the others are already waiting outside.
Booking herself in for her appointment and Amelia waited a few moments before the consultant appears, "Sorry for the wait I was stuck on a phone call. Which one of you is the bride?"
Stepping forward Amelia shakes the woman's outstretched hand, "That would be me, I'm Amelia."
"Nice to meet you, Amelia, I'm Sarah. Why don't we head to the dressing room and if the rest of you would like to take a seat? We'll be back shortly." They follow her instructions and Amelia follows her to the dressing room.
Amelia takes a seat on the offered chair and Sarah asks her questions, "So any idea what you're looking for today?"
Chuckling Amelia shakes her head, "I have no idea, I was telling my fiancé not too long ago that I'm that girl that been planning my dress since I was a child and it's like all those ideas have suddenly vanished."
