Shoto was lying on the grass, staring up at the clouds floating across the sky. He was doing a very bad job of coping with Love. The danged emotion was so hard to control.
Ever since he'd had that conversation with Mina, he didn't know what to do or think around anybody. Not only had he fallen hard for Izuku, but he'd also found that he did care about the people around him. He didn't see them as rivals or enemies anymore. He saw them for who they were, saw them as equals and even.........friends.
His facade crumbled by the second, leaving him vulnerable to everything. He hated and loved it at the same time. Hated it because he'd only ever been taught to mistrust everybody, was taught that love was a weakness and it held people back from their goals. Loved it because he finally knew what it felt like to belong, to care about people other than himself.
He didn't know how to react around anybody anymore. And that manifested in aimlessly wandering the school, unable to think properly. He tried paying attention in class, emphasis on TRIED, but a certain somebody kept distracting him. It was both a curse and a blessing that Izuku Midoriya sat a few seats in front of Shoto Todoroki.
He'd stare, force himself to not stare, stare, try not to stare, stare and have extremely inappropriate thoughts for which he thanked his lucky stars there wasn't a mind reader in his class. Too bad the rest of the Baku-squad didn't pay attention to him during class, or their quest would've been so much easier.
The boy just couldn't pull himself together to actually face him, so he avoided him like the plague, hiding from any human being other than teachers. He couldn't remember the last time he'd slept, spending every night thinking about a human broccoli that consumed his thoughts. He didn't trust anybody with his thoughts, so he wrote. Page after page, he filled with his feelings, writing until his fingers got sore. Once he was done, he tossed the notebook into his closet.
Not the smartest place to hide it, the only person who knew anything was Mina, but he'd asked advice for a "friend", and she wasn't smart enough to figure it out. So he wasn't worried about anyone finding it. Too bad he hadn't met Sir Night-eye, or he'd have known just how wrong he was.
The Baku-squad kept a close watch on him on all times except class hours, waiting for the perfect chance to get him distracted from his restless roaming, worried about the idiot.
Shoto sighed, turning to one side. He missed his friends.
"SHOTO TODOROKI!" Mina stormed across the lawn to him. She was done with this Antarctic human. Whatever his feelings, this sudden self-exiling wasn't healthy. He didn't even try hiding the bags under his eyes. For one of the most Zen bitches ever, Shoto had become terrible at masking his emotions.
"What ?" He retorted, that being the first word he'd spoken to her in two weeks, the last time being the very major revelation of a whole new universe of sentiments he was still finding hard to tackle.
"Get up. You're coming with us to the amusement park." She ordered, Denki and Hitoshi arriving hand-in-hand.
"Don't wanna go. You're not my mom." Shoto replied, flipping over.
"Todoroki. If you don't get up right now, I'm gonna electrocute you." Denki threatened.
"Try me, bitch." Shoto mumbled, hoping they'd go away.
"Alright. Hitoshi. Do your thing." Mina stood back, as the purple-haired boy pulled out his capture scarf.
Shoto found himself hoisted into the air, bound by the scarf, "Dang you! Lemme Goooooooo!"
"No. Come on, let's go." Hitoshi replied, pulling him along.
"ALRIGHT I'LL GO DAMMIT, Just let me walk on my own. Geez." He finally relented, as Hitoshi let go.
Denki and Hitoshi dragged him off, Mina lingering back. "Okay, Toru. It's your time to shine."
The invisible girl let go of Mina's hand, dashing to Heights Alliance.
**********
"How the hell does he do it ?" Hitoshi ranted, frustratedly running his hands through his hair.
"I have no idea. I really don't." Denki replied, pacing around, deep in thought.
Mina was watching Shoto sit inertly on a bench, as the three of them stood near a stall, dissatisfied with every-fucking-thing, "This guy is so goddamned aggravating."
Shoto had been silent through EVERY single ride, even the rollercoaster. And it was driving the three of them absolutely batty.
Hitoshi looked around the park, for something, anything, that could make the idiot say a single word. His eyes raked through the crowd until his eyes fell on a signboard. A haunted house.
He got a brainwave as he grabbed Denki's hand, turning to Mina, "Wait here for us."
"Hey Todoroki, wanna go to the haunted house with me and Denki ?" He sauntered over to Shoto, getting a shrug in reply.
The three of them walked over, Denki furiously struggling against his boyfriend's iron grip.
"Hito, no! You know I hate haunted houses." Denki looked to where Mina was standing, despairing when he couldn't see her.
Hitoshi's plan was simple. He dragged Denki in, and according to his calculations, let him short-circuit at the first jump scare.
"Crap, what do we do now ?" He glanced at Shoto, as the dual-haired boy grabbed the yellow-haired boy's arm and pulled it around his neck, silently ordering him to do the same. Hitoshi almost yelled in irritation, copying Shoto's actions and matching pace with him.
He was mentally slapping Shoto, when he spied a bit of uneven ground in the dim light.
'This is gonna hurt.' He mentally sighed, before purposely tripping, and landing face-first on the floor.
"Fuck!" He swore as blood streamed down his nose.
"You okay, Shinso ?" Shoto put Denki down and went around to Hitoshi.
"Is my nose broken ?" The boy looked up at him, crossing his fingers that he'd say something.
"Yeah, completely bashed up." Shoto replied, before his eyes went blank.
Hitoshi exhaled, "Finally. A bloody tough nut to crack."
He was so done with Shoto's shit.
