Chapter 16
It felt weird to hold a weapon in my hands. My hands held the gun properly as if by instinct. I'm not sure if I was the same person as everyone else remembers but I felt uncomfortable with guns. Just one pull of the trigger without any struggle at all and someone can die. I know I can hold the gun right if I compare myself to Kurt's stature but I have no idea if I could aim correctly. What if--
"Oi!", I felt a sharp pain, " You can't be day dreaming in these kind of situations. Now get your ass over here already."
I didn't realize we were at the fence already. Kurt climbed over with ease as if he's been doing that his whole life, He turned and faced me wearing one of his smirks while corssing his arms.
I felt like the whole left side of my face was hit by an iron bat. "I swear if there's some kind of mark on my face--"
I was interrupted by laughter. "Here, I was thinking you were humble, pretty boy. I didn't know you were into your looks so much."
I glared daggers at him and quickly climbed over the park fence. "If you have a death wish, I suggest that you should say that again," I growled.
He smiled as if we always acted like this together "Now before we continue, shall we fix your hair before saving your damsel in distress?" he asked with perfect mockery, " We have to make sure your pretty boy looks are all in check."
I punched his arm, "Let's get this over with. "
We made several turns. He says he knows where he's going but to me it seems like we're just going in circles repeatedly.
I groaned. I hope Ronnie was okay. "I swear if you were Sacajawea, you would somehow lead us to Canada."
He placed his hands on his hips, "It seems like we've been walking in circles."
"If you weren't the only person who could lead me to Ronnie, I would have strangled you by now. I thought you said you knew where you were going."
He cupped his hand beneath his chin. "Let's see we've been here before because I peed on this tree. I remember coming around this area and was told to head east."
I was now at the stage of pulling my hair out. "When did you have the time to use the bathroom?! I was following you the whole time!"
"I said no questions till later. Now does the sun rise in the east or the west?"
If I was one of those cartoon characters there would be flames behind me right now. "That's it were lost and now I have to kill you!"
I lunged at him but he quickly turned and started walking. "Now I remember silly me, we have to head west."
We made some more turns. It was fall and the leaves were the colors of rust and fire. The trees towered over us their branches stretched over us creating webs on the dark sky. I don't how long we've been walking. I didn't say anything for all I had to say were questions which wouldn't be answered until later and he didn't know how to talk to me as a stranger. The woods grew thicker as we drew in deeper.
"Are we almost there?"
Kurt stopped and suddenly a storm of birds flew above us. "I'm sorry for betraying you again."
I felt like someone just knocked the breath out of me. "What are you talking about?"
I heard a rustle of leaves coming from behind me and before I could even react, a severe blow came to my head. I felt blood trickle down my forehead and my vision was suddenly unclear before everything turned back.
