I gave Bella a smile as I stood up.

"Are you sure you don't want to try any food?" I ask. "Esme made plenty. You're going to need all the strength and nutrients you can get."

She vehemently shook her head.

"No, I'm okay. Thank you, though... for helping," she said, looking up at me, the sincerity clear in her dark brown eyes. "You and Carlisle both had been amazing."

I gave her a small smile as I looked at her. "We're just trying to follow what you wish."

She nodded her head in understanding, the sound of heels clicking on the floor making us both look up.

Rose gave Bella and me a warm smile as she walked in, her eyes scanning mine briefly before turning to Bella. "Do you need anything? Blanket? Water?"

Bella shook her head as she smiled appreciatively at the blonde. "I'm okay. Thanks, Rose."

She nods and we both gracefully start to leave the room, allowing the frail girl some much-needed time to rest.

Just as she was beginning to round the corner and start towards her room, Esme scurried over and gave us a knowing look as she walked closer to us both. Lowering her voice in hopes that Bella wouldn't overhear. "Family meeting, Jacob has to talk to us."

"Do we need to tell Bella?" Rose asked, sparing the girl a glance.

Esme swiftly shook her head. "No. No one tells Bella."

We all share a grave glance, beginning to understand what she was hinting at before nodding.

"I'll stay with Bella, make sure that she is okay. Just tell me what's happening after," Rose offered.

We both nodded and we all went our different ways. Rose walked back into the living room, grabbed and book and carefully sat in one of the love seats that had been shoved into the corner of the room.

After a few seconds, Esme looked over at me and let out a small breath, a hopeful smile appearing across her face as she began to walk with me towards the staircase, updating me briefly on what the meeting was about.

Theo and I stood in the back, his arm wrapped around my waist as we listened to Jacob explain Sam's impending plan.

"Sam's lost the element of surprise," he explained, looking around at all of us. "And he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered. So he's not going to come at you head-on. He's got the place surrounded, and he'll wait for his opportunity."

"He won't get through without a fight," Emmett declared.

"No fights," Carlisle insisted, looking back at Emmett. "We won't be the ones to break the treaty."

"The treaty is void. At least in Sam's mind," Jacob argued, looking at the blonde man.

"Not in ours," Esme spoke up, her voice soft yet firm, leaving no room for anyone to fight her on the topic. Not that anyone would.

"Carlisle," Theo spoke up. "No one's hunted for weeks."

"Well make do," Esme assured, looking over at us. The room fell silent for a moment, taking in the argument that Theo had brought up. Carlisle looked over at Jacob before breaking the silence.

"You've done us a great service, Jacob. Thank you," He said, his voice showing his gratitude towards him.

Jacob barely nodded his head before looking down, the room falling silent for another moment before he stood and took his leave from the house. Leaving the rest of us to wallow around in our anxiety.

Our hunger was at an all-time high, Bella's health deteriorating faster and faster each day, and now we had to deal with the news and stress of an impending attack from the wolf pack. We all looked around, silently conversing with our black eyes.

"What the hell happens now?" I mutter, shaking my head as I leave the room.

"Wanna play a round?" Emmett grins over at us, holding up a pool stick, his brow raised.

Jasper chuckles and shakes his head from his spot on the couch. "You never learn, do you? Exactly how many games have you lost now?"

"12," Alice called out, looking over at us as she continued to nervously rearrange every book from the bookshelf.

"Come on," Emmett whined. "It's not like we can go out and hunt- or do anything outside of the house, really. I am just trying to find ways to pass the time."

"You are just trying to win a few bucks off of me, admit it," I joke, standing up and taking the pool stick from him.

He mockingly gasps and places his hand over his heart. "Me? I would never."

Rose chuckles as she leans against the doorframe a soft smile appearing across her face as she watches us.

My face brightens when I see her, placing down the pool stick and rushing over to her side. "Rosie! Wanna watch as I absolutely destroy your husband?"

"I would love nothing more," Rose says, walking beside me back to the pool table. "Game on!"
