The Next Morning...

We'd decided to go to Diagon Alley by Floo Network to see Fred and George's shop, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. I'd never been before, so Mrs. Weasley said it would be her special treat. The shop was painted purple, orange gracing the windowsills and doors, and a large moving statue of one of the twins sat on top of the building.

Despite Diagon Alley's stillness, the joke shop was bustling with students. We walked through the doors to a most wonderous sight; three floors worth of fun games, foods, and items. Fred and George stood on the staircase as we stepped inside. "Hey there Caroline," Fred waved showing us around the store. Hermione and Ginny gravitated towards the love potions while Harry and I made our way to an interesting dark stone. "Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder," Harry questioned.

"A real money spend on that one, handy if you have to make a quick get away," Fred and George smiled, handing us each one small piece. "Use those well," they winked before walking off. I slipped it into my pocket. "Hello ladies," Fred and George whistled as they walked over to Hermione and Ginny. Harry and I walked after them.

"They really do work!" Fred smiled. "Then again sis, the way I hear it you're doing just fine on your own," George winked. "Meaning?" Ginny blushed. "Are you not currently dating Dean Thomas?" Fred asked. "It's none of your business," she smirked before taking my hand and dragging me to the second floor. "Should I finally buy a Pygmy Puff?" Ginny asked, picking a pink one off the shelf. "Go for it," I smiled.

She paid, then we left, walking back onto the street. "How are Fred and George doing it? Half the alley's closed down," Hermione questioned. "I reckon people need a laugh these days," Ron said. "Oh no, everyone got their wands at Ollivander's," Hermione sighed as we passed the shop, which was now overrun by broken glass and splintered wood. "Those death eaters really destroyed it, I thought they'd only taken Mr. Ollivander," I said, examining the darkened shop. "They are pretty ruthless," Ginny mumbled.

Harry opened the door and we stepped inside. "Guys," Ron said. "What's up?" I asked. "Look," he pointed out the window. There stood Draco and his mother. My heart leaped at the sight of him. "Is it just me or do Draco and his Mum look like two people who don't want to be followed?" Ron asked. "We have to go after them," I exclaimed. "If they see you, they'll kill you," Harry held my arm back. "I don't care," I ran out quietly, the others following after me.

We followed them down the corridors into Knockturn Alley where they entered Borgin and Burkes. "This is a bad idea," Ginny whispered. "It'll be fine, up here," I motioned to a nearby rooftop. We climbed up the ladder, peeking over the top into the windows of the store. Draco kept a straight face, but his eyes were bloody terrified.

As they entered, Draco stood in front of a tall, black cabinet. My heart began beating out of my chest when I saw the multiple death eaters inside the store. "What the bloody hell is he doing?" Ron whispered. "I don't know," I breathed, trying to get a better look. Suddenly, a death eater stepped in front of the window. We all ducked down. After five minutes, I peeked back over to see a curtain now covered the window.

We ran up back to the Joke Shop. "What the hell was that all about?" Ron panted. "Why were there so many of them?" I stopped to catch my breath. "He's got to be one of them," Harry said. "What?" I turned to him in shock. "He hasn't written you back all summer, that'd be a good explanation," Ginny said. "I want to think you're wrong but, it's definitely explanatory," I said. "Do getting Dark Marks hurt?" I asked suddenly.

"Why the bloody hell do you want to know that?" Ron asked. "This one day a few months ago, my ring was glowing like crazy," I exclaimed. "So he was in danger," Ginny said. "Right. That's got to be the reason, I mean, why would he be in danger in his own house?" I asked. It all made so much more sense now.

We stood in front of the shop, waiting for Mrs. Weasley to finish shopping when Draco and his Mother walked out of the alleyway. They looked at us, but not rudely how I'd expected. His Mother's face seemed monotone, but almost sorrowful. And before they walked away, for a split second of time, I could Draco's emotions written all over his face as he looked into my eyes. Regret.

DRACO'S POV

As I examined the vanishing cabinet, one of the death eaters stared out the window. "Something wrong?" another asked. "Thought I saw someone," he shut the blinds. I finished swiftly, and my Mother walked me out through the confusing maze that was Knockturn Alley. We soon found ourselves back where we'd started; in front of the Weasley twins joke shop. Truth be told, I wanted to go in and shop, but I couldn't for obvious reasons. That's when I saw Potter, and his friends.

My heart dropped as I saw Caroline standing next to them, staring at me in confusion. I felt my breath hitch as she looked at me, but I turned away as fast as I could, walking quickly down the alleyway. "Is that her? The Bellegreen girl?" my Mother questioned. This is when my plan would begin.

"No, it's not her."
