I worked quickly, Harry going at the same pace as me.
Alright Caroline, you've got this. crush them instead of cut, put the juices into the cauldron.
I thought to myself. "How did you do that?" Hermione asked. "What'd he do?" I asked. "Crush it, don't cut it," "How did you know to do that?" I questioned him. "I'm that talented," he smirked at me. "You're kind of not," I scoffed, moving onto the next step. He laughed at how aggravated I was getting with him.
I stirred correctly, adding the ingredients the way my Father had taught me. But what was the last part? Think, I thought to myself. "Thirteen," I said aloud on accident. "What?" Ron asked. "Nothing, sorry," I said excitedly. Thirteen beans, instead of twelve. "I'm done," Harry and I said at the exact same time. We looked at each other confused.
"Well, what have we here?" Slughorn laughed, throwing a feather into each of our potions, both disintegrating in seconds. "Well, I'd say a drop of either of these potions would kill us all," he chuckled. "Who gets the Felix Felicis?" Slughorn asked. Great, two stubborn Gryffindors going head to head for a prize.
"I do," we said at the same time. "Have you brewed this before, Caroline?" he asked me. "Yes sir," I responded. "Then I think it's only fair we give this prize to Harry, it is his first brew after all," he exclaimed. I was tempted to talk back but decided to be polite. Slughorn placed it in his hand, and when he turned around, Harry wiggled it in my face. "I'm gonna kill you," I laughed.
DRACO'S POV
"I'm gonna kill you," she laughed. God I missed her laugh. I miss her smile. This year was awful, with what I had to do. "Class dismissed," The Professor said. I sighed as I packed my things, watching as Caroline chased Harry out of the room, hearing her laugh, "You cheated," as she dissapeared down the corridor. Blaise and I returned to the common room. "You know they spent the summer together," he said, opening a book as he sat on the couch. "Are you serious?" I grumbled. "Dead serious," he said.
This was bullshit. I left the common room, and saw her walking to Caroline next class. I grabbed her arm, walking her into an empty classroom. "What the fuck, Malfoy?" she yelled at me as I shut the door. "Are you cheating on me?" I asked strictly. "Are you serious right now? You break my best friend's nose, scream at me in my face making me feel bloody belittled and now you're asking if I'm cheating on you?" her voice broke as she yelled at me.
"I didn't mean to scream at you, I didn't know it was you," my voice softened. "Yeah, so you didn't mean to break his nose either, or insult his dead mother? You know, I thought I'd maybe bettered you, just a little bit-" I pulled her into a kiss, and she kissed back. I let go, rubbing her cheek gently. She looked up at me, her eyes full of confusion. "Please believe me," I raised my hand, but she slapped it away.
"I'll come back to you when you stop acting like a dickhead," she said strictly, slamming the door leaving me alone in the empty classroom.
CAROLINE'S POV
That night in the common room...
"And I kissed him back," I exclaimed, feeling guilty. "It's not your fault, you did the right thing," Harry said. "By kissing him back?" "No, by putting him in his place. You told him what he needed to hear," Harry explained. "He kept pulling his sleeve down on the train," I said. "I noticed that too." Suddenly Ron, Hermione and Ginny entered. "Hey guys," Hermione smiled, sitting down next to us on the couch.
"Draco and I got in a fight," I sighed. "About?" Hermione asked. "He thought I was cheating on him with Harry," I snorted. "Jeez, he's insecure," Ron chuckled. "Thanks, Ron," Harry punched his arm. "I didn't mean it like that, mate, I just meant that the two of you are best friends," Ron chuckled. "So what'd you say?" Hermione asked. "I yelled at him," I giggled. "I almost feel bad for him," Hermione said. "Whatever, we've got quidditch tryouts to plan. I'm captain this year," Harry said.
"We know," we all said. It was all Harry could talk about, other than the fact that he thought Draco was a death eater. "I've got to meet up with Dumbledore to talk about something, Caroline he wants you to come too. We'll see you guys later," Harry smiled as we walked down the corridors. "What's Dumbledore want?" "No idea," Harry exclaimed. Suddenly we saw Draco. He looked sad, almost ill, turning the opposite way when he saw us two.
"I feel bad," I sighed at a whisper. "Don't, this isn't your fault," Harry assured me as we knocked on Dumbledore's door. "Ah, Harry, Caroline, you got my message," he said, sitting at his desk. "I've got two different things to discuss with you here today, Harry will be first; if you don't mind, just take a seat over there," Dumbledore pointed towards a chair next to a small coffee table. I sat down.
"You're probably wondering why I asked you here today; the answer lies here," I watched as Harry and Dumbledore walked over to a large clear cabinet filled with bottles. "What you are looking at, are memories, in this case ones from a particular individual, Voldemort," he exclaimed. "This vial contains the most particular memory. I'd like you to see it, if you will," he poured the memory into something my Father had called a pensieve. He had one at work.
Harry dipped his face into the clear water. I looked at Dumbledore as they stood in silence. "I'll be with you in a moment," he said. All I could do was nod at him. After around two minutes, Harry pulled his face out of the water. He'd looked like he'd seen a ghost.
"You told Voldemort about Hogwarts?"
