Chapter 9

MAAGA akong umuwi mula sa Avery's kasi sumasakit na naman ang ulo. These days, a certain text messages has been bothering me.

Wala muna akong pinagsasabihan nito kahit si dad at Laza. Sakto din na sa Germany ang huli at may trino-troubleshoot na problema sa airline nito. Hinabilin naman niya sa akin si Sebby at mamayang hapon ay susunduin ko ito.

Papasok na sana ako sa loob ng bahay ng maisipan kong buksan ang mailbox. Tuluyan na akong pumasok sa bahay namin habang chine-check ang mga mail ng mahagip sa mata ko ang isang pulang letter.

Ibinaba ko ang aking bag sa couch at umupo sa tabi nito.

Biglang nanlamig ang buong katawan ko sa nakita kong laman ng letter.

It's a picture of my late sister with a big 'X'. The marker used to write the letter is red and at the buttom of the picture,

"She was silenced."

Kung sino man ang nagpadala nito ay alam ang bago naming address. Nung mga nakaraang araw ay mga ilang misteryosong mensahi ang lagi kong natatanggap pero hindi ko pinapansin.

There is something wrong.

Dali-dali kong tinawagan si Emerald ngunit hindi ang kaibigan ko ang nasa kabilang linya kundi ang asisstant nito at pinaalam sa akin na nasa isang photo-shoot ang dalaga.

After the call ended, I sorted on calling Seraphine and luckily she answer it immediately.

"Hello?"

"Sera, where are you?"

"Why? Are you okay? You sounded flustered?"

"I-I don't know but something isn't right."

"Okay, where are you? I'm coming."

"At my house, hurry please." Tahimik lang ito sa kabilang linya pero narinig ko ang agarang pagbukas at pagsara ng pintuan. After that the line ended.

Bumuntong hininga ako at nagpunas ng pawis.

Who would dare to send me messages and now letter with my dead sister in it?

May mga tao talagang ayaw patahimikin ang pamilya namin.

What is their purpose? What can they get from it?

My sadness? My family going down again?

Deep in my heart it felt like they are mocking me. I don't know.. I'm getting tired.

MUNTIK ko ng makalimutan ang pagsundo kay Sebby kung hindi nag text sa akin ang teacher nito. Sera and I hurriedly went to the kindergarten where my little blob of sunshine is. I found him sitting alone in the chair and his feet is swaying while he is humming some melody.

I called his name and his face, even from the distance glows up. He jumped from his chair and run towards our direction.

I hugged him while swaying our bodies, Sera who is beside me just silently look at our mini rendezvous.

"Matagal ka bang naghintay? Sorry lilttle Seb, I got distracted for awhile."

"No, but I waited for like 20 minutes." Natawa sa gilid ko si Sera while I pouted.

"Okay, baby. Let's get you some cookies. Don't tell big brother I gave you some okay?"

"Deal."

Hindi nagtagal ay binabaybay na namin ang daan pauwi.

"How long have you been receiving those kind of messages?" She asked while looking straightly at the road.

I sighed wile I checked Seb who is now is now sleeping on his car seat.
