Virgil's POV:

According to Logan, my throat was now properly healed now that almost a week had passed. I was able to talk again, although I still would cough due to the scratchiness in my throat from time to time. No canons has gone off since I had killed Lola and Chad, meaning two things, that the remaining tributes were either really good at keeping out of sight, or they had all teamed up like how we did. If it was the second option, then we were probably screwed. I slung my bow over my back along with my quiver and arrows. Making sure I had everything, Patton and I headed out to see if I could finally hunt down and track whatever creature Patton had been trying to find for awhile. We walked quietly through the forest looking for tracks, or markings nearby that were fresh. However the silence was really starting to get to me due to being temporarily mute this past week up until now.
"If you win the games what do you think you'll do after?" I asked and he looked over to me as he processed the question, he then smiled and looked back to watch where he stepped.
"I have a few ideas of what I'm going to do" he started off "head home and see my family first of course, but then I want to go to Logan's family and get that book he was talking about. I want to know more about the sides and our history. I think I want to visit and talk to everyone that we think are apart of the union and get some answers from them as well. What about you?" He asked after telling me his plan.
"Race home to Janus that's for sure, give him a better life, maybe have Remy join us too. And you know I'll interrogate the shit out of him about the handkerchief." I explained and we both chuckled together at my joke. "But I can't help but feel like this is... wrong... if we're all sides then what happens if just one of us survives? Then we're left without the others and my brain can't even... process that." I admitted and he nodded in agreement.
"I find it quite a bit odd that somehow the four main sides end up in the mind games all in the same year, not to mention how we all figured it out rather quickly." Patton added as his face scrunched up into a puzzled expression. "And I've been thinking..." he continued,
"Oh no, don't hurt yourself" I teased and he gave me a playful glare as he gave short snort of laughter.
"Very funny, but anyways I was thinking that because we're all in the games this year that... something strange is going to happen... something that the unions never seen before, except I don't know what" he explained, I studied his expression while pondering his statement. Now I knew I wasn't the only one who had that gut feeling, if we both felt it, than perhaps Roman and Logan felt it too. We continued our tracking for another hour mostly quiet the rest of the time. I was getting slightly on edge because we were only a few miles away from the cornucopia now. I heard a twig snap in the distance and instinctively grabbed the back of Patton's neck and forced us both to crouch to the ground. He made a slight sound of distress but stayed quiet afterwards as he realized I noticed something was up. We waited in the tense silence and my heart felt like it was about to beat out of my chest as it rang through my ears. In the direction I heard the noise from I started to hear voices.
"Ughhh! This is boring! Why can't these last few tributes show up already? You'd think they'd try to sneak up on us by now to get to the cornucopia for supplies" the first person complained.
"Shut up will you?! Are you trying to tell the whole world where we are right now? Plus it won't matter when they show up or not, the traps surrounding the supplies we set up will kill them instantly. We just need to be patient" the other guy hissed out, making me and Patton both look at each other wide eyed and I nodded my head in their direction to signal to him to follow me. We crept silently staying covered by the bushes and wildlife to stay out of sight. I pushed some of the leaves out of the way and me and Patton watched as the two guys set up a trap together around a huge pile of food and medical supplies right on the border of the forest in the clearing where the cornucopia shined menacingly under the sun. At the entrance of the Cornucopia were the remaining tributes as they sat around and looked to be talking with each other. So that confirmed my fear, the remaining players had teamed up as well... I suddenly gained an idea though as I squinted my eyes to look and see everything in the area. There were three traps set up surrounding the cornucopia they were covered with land mines littering the area so if one of us even got close we would be blown to smithereens and sound an alarm for the enemy. But, if I planned this out right we could end up using their own traps against them. When I noted down everything of importance in the back of my head I had Patton follow me back to the base.
"This is bad... this is really bad" Patton muttered as he paced back and forth in place.
"Actually I think I have a way to turn this into our favor, c'mon we need to tell the others" I reassured Patton and we entered the cave.
"You're back! How'd it go?" Roman asked but faltered when he saw Patton's distressed look.
"The rest of the players have teamed up together and are occupying the cornucopia. They've set up baited traps with land mines so that if we try to get our hands on them we'll immediately be eliminated." I explained. "But I have a plan to turn their traps against them," I added and Logan adjusted his glasses as he looked sternly at me waiting for me to continue. "Alright so here's the plan..." I began and grabbed the notepad to start sketching out what I saw.
