When Gabby walked back into school she looked extremely happy. I walked up to my best friend drapping my arm on Gabs' shoulder.
"Why you so happy?"
"Easton askeddd meeee outtttt."
Shit. He really did it. He asked her out.
"What did you say?""I said yes. I am going on a date!" She squealed. The last time I heard her squeal was when she found the boots I bought her on her birthday. When she found them she jumped up and down for like 20 minutes while hugging me.
"Oh." I said trying not to sound disappointed but I think she caught on, her happy expression changed into confusion.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothin Gabs nothin at all but I gotta go." I removed my arm from her shoulder and left her there.
Am I a dick for that?
Yes
Do I feel bad?
Not really.
I skip class and head to the locker rooms to get changed into clothes for the weight room. Walking in the room I head straight over to the weight rack.
Why can't I have the girl?Because I can't tell her how I feel. Not now. Not yet.
The rest of the day I focused on football. We have a game before me, Gabby, and my parents leave for my grandparents place.
~~~~It's now Thursday and Gabby has been talking to Easton a lot more these past few days and I'm a little jealous not gonna lie.
It hurts to see the girl you have loved forever be with another guy because you're to scared to admit your feelings for her.She hasn't been at my house and when we are on the phone, Easton always calls her and she just hangs up on me. It's 7th period and I am on my way home to get a shower and grab my pads. Most of the guys just leave their pads in their trucks but i can't do that. I'm gonna sound whipped, but Gabby is in my truck a lot more than most people and she doesn't like the stink they give off.
I got home and went straight inside."Mom,Dad, I'm back!" I yell as soon as I open the door.
"Living room!" My Dad hollered back.
I walked into the living room and seen my dad sitting in his recliner watching tv."Where's mom?"
"Upstairs."
"Ok. I'm gonna grab my stuff and head out."
"Alright."
I run up the stairs to my room to find my mom sitting in my bedroom.
"Mom? What are you doing?" I ask very confused."I wanna talk about Gabby?" She said calmly.
I scoffed, "Mom not now, i have a game."
"I don't care. We are gonna talk.""No we aren't."
"Why hasn't she been around? She's usually always around and she hasn't been."
"No, she hasn't."
"Why? Is what I asked Liam."
"Because she has a boyfriend now!" I yelled. "She has a boyfriend and it's not me." I said a little more calm.
"Oh."
"Yeah." I sighed.
"Is it serious?"
"I don't know."
"Have they been on a date yet?"
"No."
"Then you still have time." My mom got up and walked over to me putting her hands on my shoulders.
"Time for what mom?"
"To tell her how you feel."
"No. That'll just confuse her."
"Damn it,Liam! She loves you. And you love her. She's already confused. You both don't want to screw up your friendship so you both won't talk about how you feel."
"Mom, you're nuts. Gabby doesn't love me."
"Yes she does," my mom side stepped and walked to my door," And if you won't make the first move, you'll lose her." With that my mom walked out of my room and down the stairs like nothing happened.
What the hell just happened?
Pushing what just happened to the back of my mind I grabbed my pads and ran out to my truck.
Time to go take my frustrations out on unsuspecting, yet willing, footballers.
