Chapter 11 ~Gabby's Pov

OMG! When Liam said that I could feel the instant blush that made my cheeks burn.

"Is that my grandson?" Liam's grandpa came wheeling into the kitchen in his wheelchair. 

"Yeah. It me." Liam smiled warmly.

Not the kind of smile that makes you smile too, but a warm, soft smile.

"And who is this beautiful young lady you got with you Liam?" Pa-paw asked.

"This is my best friend Gabby, pa-paw, you've met her before."

"Liam, what have I told you about beautiful girls?"

"You don't keep them as a best friend, you take them off the market as fast as you can." Both Liam and Daniel said at the same time, making me blush once again.

Why are my cheeks being my worst enemy right now?!

"Danny, honey, why don't you and Liam go talk football in the livin' room." Nonna, Mary Walker, suggested.

"Yes, boy. Tell me what is goin' on in the football world." Daniel started wheeling out of the kitchen with Liam behind him. Before he is gone completely he looks at me with a smile. I smile back.

 Later that night around 9 o'clock, after spending most of the day in the kitchen cooking with Nonna Walker, we were all sitting around on the back patio with a fire going while we all talked about the little things.  The adults had alcohol while me and Liam had iced tea and lemonade.

"Hey." Liam whispered  getting me to turn my attention to him. I had been watching the fire dance around fire pit twirling and spinning with no care in the world.

"Hey." I whisper back with a little smile playing on my lips.

"Wanna talk a walk?" Li asked. His facial features are glowing from the fire light in front of him and the moon light behind him.

"Um, yeah, sure."

Liam and I got up from our chairs and started walking down the walkway towards the field closest to the house, we walk in silence, we are complete quiet the whole way there.

"So, what's up, liam?" I asked breaking the uncomfortable silence.

"Well..... umm," Liam started messing with his hands and when he does that he is about to bring something pretty big to my attention, "Do you remember when Easton asked you out?"

"Yes? Why?" I am so confused. He brought me out here to talk about Easton?

"Because ever since then you have barely done anything with me." Is Liam jealous? Liam Walker? The boy who can get any girl anywhere?

"I know. Me and Easton have just been talking a lot. What is this about Liam?"

"Well... I miss you."

"What do you mean? I'm with you now, plus I see you everyday."

"You USED to see me everyday. You barely come over anymore. Even mum has noticed. But when you do come over you are texting with Easton. You are my best friend. The girl I've been in- the girl who I've known since we were 6 and I moved to Smith's."

I didn't have an answer to that, so I just stayed quiet. What was he gonna say before he stopped himself?

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't keep in anymore." 

"No, Li,  I'm the one that should be sorry. I've been extra distant and so caught up with Easton, that I put you in the back seat. I didn't even notice that you were feeling this way. We can usally read each other, but when one of us is being a complete bitch, that tends to not be the case."
