Sunny Wales. I landed in Manchester an hour ago. It's an hour and a half drive from the airport to Bodelwyddan. But I don't know where else to go. The taxi draws up outside their house and I grab my bags and Anwen before sighing and walking up the path of my childhood home. I tentatively knock, not sure if anyone is home. I hear footsteps and the door opens.
"Yes?"
"Hi mum."
"What do you want Cate?"
Really? I show up on her doorstep, heavily pregnant with a baby in my arms and that's how I'm greeted? I turn and dragging my suitcases behind me, walk away. I should have known better but I'm desperate. I hear her calling after me but I'm too tired to care. A hand grabs the suitcases off me and Anwen is lifted out of my arms.
"Cate. Come on. She didn't mean it."
My father. My rock at one time. He walks back towards the house taking Anwen so I have to follow. He carries her upstairs to my old room, leaving the suitcases for now. I follow, tears racing down my face. I just want to sleep. I'm exhausted and in so much emotional pain it's unreal. This, in a sense is worse than losing Owen and Rhys. They didn't choose to go yet Jaime, after all his promises chose to cheat. I collapse sobbing on the bed as my mum comes in.
"I'm sorry Catey" she whispers, as she strokes my hair. My sobs get harder at this point. I want to die. Then something happens. A huge contraction rips through me. My mum sees my pain and anguish.
"When are you due?"
"2 months" I gasp, the pain unbearable.
The local hospital can be seen out of the window but she rings an ambulance anyway. They carry me down on a stretcher, my dad holding Anwen in his arms. My mum comes with me.
