Jack realized he must have missed his calling in life.
He should have been a cross country runner or some shit because he literally found Elsa within minutes after hearing her scream.
Once he knew she wasent in danger of perishing right then, he pulled back for a moment to assess the situation before charging in.
As he hid behind some bushes, he observed the commotion.
Elsa was in the center with none other than Jerger the Great standing behind her.
Jerger (hunter in Norwegian) was well known through kingdoms as a lawless anarchist who would do anything to make fast money.
While he and his followers primarily hunted and sold their catch in local markets, he was also known to take things that weren't his.
The man was fiercely protective of his so called territory, land that no one else really wanted so he claimed it and lived by no laws other than his own.
While harmless enough, Jack didn't want today to be the day that changed.
Surely he would not kidnap a princess, Arendelle had well over enough forces and resources to destroy Jerger and his small band.
Jack took in the rest of the scene while he thought over his next actions.
12-13 men surrounded the two in the center, with one standing close to Elsa.
Way too close.
He had a short sword in one hand and was holding her arm with his other.
He was muttering something to her, what he could not hear.
It must not have been good though for she instantly tensed up.
Jack was about to rush into the throng when all of a sudden the man holding the sword dropped it and yelped in pain.
As though Elsa was a lit match, he dropped her arm and jerked away.
Jack looked closely.
Her arm that had been held was now completely encrusted with ice and the mans' hand was a sickening shade of blue.
Frostbite.
With terrified eyes, Jerger pointed at Elsa. "What sorcery is this? She must be a witch!"
Jack knew this confusion would be his perfect in.
Ripping through the crowd of awestruck soldiers, he barely registered Elsa's look of elation at seeing him.
That was new.
Wasting little time, he grabbed her by the waist and shifted her protectively behind his body.
She slipped her arms around his waist in turn and laid her head against his back.
Behind them were soldiers but in front was Jerger.
He didn't know which was worse but he'd take his chances.
Enraged, Jerger scowled at eye level with Jack.
"Frost. I should have known she belonged to you. How many more of your kind are you hiding."
Jack opted to keep things light.
"Wouldent you like to know? Sorry I'm late to the party but we are needed elsewhere."
Jerger shook his head in amusement.
"Two is better than one to me anyway, she and I have unfinished business."
Behind him Elsa shivered from what he was sure was not the cold.
He was getting angry now.
"Since your obviously incompetent of making a decision, I'll make it for you."
With that, Jack made a swirling motion with his finger.
Immediately the winds of the north and south picked up, swirling violently around the group.
The men, already afraid, began to scatter with Jerger turning to yell after them.
With the distraction, Jack classified their situation as an emergency.
Wordlessly, he shifted Elsa in front of him and winked down at her when she peered up at him questioningly.
Quickly, he leaned down to whisper into her ear,
"Hold on tight."
Before she could question him however, they were up in the air, being carried by the wind.
Jack tried not to smile when Elsa shrieked in fright and clung to him with everything she had.
Ok, he could get used to this.
Now being the first time he ever carried someone along with him, he didn't know how far they could go.
After they were a safeways' away from Jerger and his forest, Jack began to feel the wind dying out.
Immediately he landed them smoothly in a clearing.
After a few moments of adjusting himself and breathing away the stress of the last encounter, Jack made a motion to let go of Elsa.
Untangling his arms from around her waist, he stopped abruptly when he realized she was still clinging onto him for dear life.
With her eyes closed.
All humor fled and shook her gently.
"Elsa? It's over with. Your safe."
He didn't know if it was the flight or Jerger that had scared her more, but he felt desperate to make sure she was ok.
Finally Elsa's grip loosened barely and she lifted her head to look at their surroundings, and afterward, straight into his eyes.
"Took you long enough."
He let out a strangled laugh.
Yea, she was definitely alright.
"Please Elsa, no need to thank me, of course I'll rescue you anytime, no worries."
Jack responded dryly.
Elsa laughed but stayed in his embrace.
"Thank you Jack, I truly don't know what I would have done without you coming."
She bit her lip nervously as she said this and Jack felt the need to assure her.
"Don't worry about it. If I had not come you would have found a way to use your many talents to escape, you were already doing so when I bursted through."
Still Elsa shook her head,
"No one has ever really looked out for me besides Ana so it means something to me that you came back."
Jack stilled at her words, not knowing where this was going.
He watched as Elsa shifted closer and found himself unable to tear his gaze away from the full lips she kept worrying.
But in that moment, he felt the words he was about to utter to be 100% true.
In fact, he couldn't remember a time when he was more sure of something.
He smoothed a finger down her cheek as he held her gaze.
"I'll always come back for you, no matter what."
The next thing he knew Elsa was kissing him.
Before he could even finish the sentence, Elsa had launched herself into his arms and he had to admit nothing felt more right than this moment.
He had never been gifted in knowing what to say at the right time, much less being romantic.
But that was the thing about her.
It was all so easy.
Definitely could get used to this.
