"Alright, one, two, three, go!"
Minho arches his body, causing him to swing back and forth in mid-air and make contact with Thomas. When he gets within arms reach of the brunette boy, he shoves Thomas in the back who in turn goes swinging to meet Teresa.
I brace myself and prepare for what's about to come for me. A swoosh of air is all I sense before Teresa's palms plant firmly on my back and push me towards the lever that holds the decision on whether we die or live to survive another day.
My fingertips stretch out, my whole body arching gracefully like an acrobat. Holding my breath, I pray that this time there was enough force to swing me all the way to the lever. My index finger hooks around the edge of the railing surrounding the lever, and I finally breathe out a sigh of relief even as the tug of the rope binding my feet digs into my skin a little more as a sign of protest against my precarious position.
"Did we make it?" Frypan asks, a bit dazed from hanging upside down so for so long.
"Yep, only took like eight tries," I reply, gritting my teeth and wrapping my left hand around the railing while I reach out with my right to pull the lever.
"Brace yourselves!" I call out before yanking the lever down. A muffled scream breaks out as everyone collectively drops half a metre lower. I hit the concrete floor, relieved to finally have a solid surface beneath me.
Flipping onto my back, I sit up and study the intricate knots around my ankles. The bald man had been the one to tie me up, and curses silently fly through my head at him making my life that much more difficult. I tug at the ropes for a couple seconds before quickly giving up, glancing around for something to cut me free.
"What's taking so long? (Y/n), you okay?" Minho calls out to me.
"I'm fine, just need something to cut these shucking ropes."
My sheathed pair of katanas catch my eye. Bingo.
"Quite stupid of you to leave our weapons in the same room, aren't you, baldie?" I grumble under my breath as I begin dragging myself along the floor towards the blades, cringing at the fact that I look like a crank who was unfortunate enough to break their legs.
I unsheath one of the katanas, admiring it briefly before using it to cut the ropes. Thanks to the sharpness of the blade, it doesn't take long before I'm free and running to help the others.
"There are long poles with hooks by the door," Thomas says helpfully. Rushing over, I grab one before heading back, kneeling near Newt.
"Newt? Hey buddy, I'm coming to help, it's gonna be alright soon." I gently hook his rope and shift to a standing position, slowly pulling his weight towards me. The pale boy manages to pull himself up over the ledge and I hurriedly cut his bindings before rushing to the next closest person.
Newt crawls across the floor on all fours until he hits the wall. He huddles away from the edge, knees drawn to his chest as he stares at the hole in the floor with a haunted look on his face. I bite my lip, stressing it between my teeth.
"Thanks, (y/n)." Teresa flashes me a quick smile of gratitude before hurrying off to get her own pole to make the process faster.
I fetch Minho next, who hugs me tightly before attending to Newt. Feeling slightly more relieved, me and Teresa quickly get the others to safety.
Frypan and Aris stay kneeling on the floor for a while, trying to re-adjust themselves to being upright again. I take the small opportunity to strap my katana holders snugly across my back, hopping around on the spot to make sure they're secure.
