Change of A Lifetime
Chapter 1
I walked into school with my heavy backpack and gym bag in my hands, opened the door into the middle school, and walked down the stairs.
I peered under the balcony and saw all my friends on the couch talking.
“CRYSTAL! OH MY GOSH! YOU’RE HERE!” said my slightly psychotic friend, Sasha.
I nearly dropped my bags in surprise.
“Jeez! Do you plan on scaring the crap out of me?” I said as I hugged her with a smile.
I went up to my locker, trying to ignore the babbling coming out of my best friend’s mouth. I put my stuff in the small metal box with a clang, and shut the door with a good stiff kick, and went to my first class, with Sasha chattering excitedly behind me.
......................
“Gosh. Science, what a dream!” I said sarcastically as I walked out of the Science classroom, JUST after a damn hard Science quiz. But luckily it was the last class of the day, and next...
SWIMMING! Finally! Something I can enjoy in my day!
I’m not really what you would call, “the amazing soccer chick!” or “the boss volleyball player!” I like to take it slow and not be in a lot of serious competition. And the only answer to this problem is casual swimming. The really embarrassing thing is that I recently started swimming. Like, JUST started. I only started taking lessons just a couple months ago. But the water. It’s just so inviting to me, and the first time that I swam in it, it felt so natural, like I was supposed to be there.
“Uh, Hello?” Sasha’s voice interrupted my thoughts.
“Get your gym bag and let’s go!” She said as she pulled me along.
.........................................
I quickly got into my swimsuit and headed out towards the pool. Sasha was already in, splashing around and trying to flirt with the boys. I got on the edge, ready to get in.
Suddenly, there was a giant rumble. The water in the pool shook, the floors creaked, and the walls were shaking.
“GET OUT OF THE POOL! GO, AND GET UNDER THE TABLES!” screamed the coach. She was literally gray with fear. Sasha and I soon found each other and dove under the nearest table.
From my position, I could see the sky out of the window. It was as grey as the sky could possible be, and under it was a giant wall of black.
My eyes widened at the recognition.
The sky was grey
My mom was holding me a tightly as possible, and my father was guiding her as we ran to get in our car.
The last thing I remember seeing was dark wall of water swallowing me up and feeling the sting of coldness and loneliness as my mother’s lifeless arms slowly let me go.
