Wounded

(Chen's POV)
The last fortificaion of The Earth Kingdom that was in our way was about to fall. I was running in the trenches with some soldiers following me, some of them were wearing a bomb which we'll use to blow up the wall.
As they were moving I noticed a few earthbenders trying to stop them, I turned back at the soldiers.
-Go and blow the wall, I'll give you some time.- he nodded and coutinued his way.
I stand in front of the earthbenders and as soon as they saw me they stopped.
-The White Flame, I can see we got a luck boys, get him!
As he said that, 10 earthbenders attacked me in the same time. I did a fire circle and block the rocks coming in my way. As the shots stopped I found myself surrounded by the enemy.
I get myself in a fighting stance knowing that the chance of getting out of this unharmed is little. They already lift the boulders from the land ready to shoot if I make a move.
I take a deep breath and the last thing I remember is try to bend the lightning before I felt a sharp pain across my whole body. I fell down and the world suddenly became dark.

Flashback

I was laying as I could see a squad of medics around me. I looked down to see that my chest and back armour wasn't there and the last I saw is a bloody boulder that doctors pulled out of my stomach.
Then again a pain filled my body, as I leaned my head back falling unconscious again.

3 weeks later

(Chen's POV)

Out of nowhere when I was sleeping I felt a weight on my stomach as I opened my eyes and saw Lena jumping on the bed and singing. I leaned my head on the pillow and sighed.
-Lena, it's morning. You heard the doctor, I must rest.
-But I want to plaaay!- she mourned.
-Believe me, I get that, but right now I can't with that bandage on my stomach.- I told her pointing at the bandage who was in blood colour.
When I saw the blood I put my hands on the wound and shouted to Lena.
-Get the Doc, now!- she slipped from the bed and runned as fast as she could. I leaned back against the bed, gritting my teeth, so I can't let a massive yell that will wake up the soldiers.
A minute later the medic and Lena following close came to me and remove my hands from the wound.
-Commander, I need you to not move a lot, I must treat your wound.
I shut my eyes ready for the pain that will come soon through my whole body. The doctor slowly removed the bandages around my stomach, as he revealed the wound hot blood has come out from it. The doc tried to open the wound, so he can see is there anything left from the rock that hit me. He looked inside and his eyes met mine. I heard a deep sigh coming out of his chest and then he began to speak.
-I'm sorry Commander, but it seems that there are still parts of the boulder inside of you. The problem is that they're too deep and we can't pull them out. You, must set sail to The Fire Nation immediately, so you can have a surgery.
I looked at him and silence filled the whole tent.
-What is the chance that I will survive this surgery?
He looked at me and only smirked.
-Mr. Commander, to be honest I wasn't sure that you'll survive when I first saw you, but it seems like there's something or someone in your heart that gave you the strength to go through the hard part. I don't see why you can't get through that.
I looked at him, than at Lena. I might don't want to leave, but do I have a choice.
-So if I don't get that surgery, what will happen with me?- I asked him.
He thinked for a moment before answering.
-You'll spend the rest of your life as invalid or even die.
Everyone in the tent felt silent, I gulped slightly and tried to stand up, but a pain sliced through my lower back, so I fell back and let a massive yell.
The medics calmed me down so I don't feel the pain I only closed my eyes and the last thing I remember is all of them and Lena around me with a concerned looks, as I fell unconscious.

(2 days later)

I opened my eyes and saw that I was alone in a room. For what I could tell the surgery was about to start when I wake up, so I just laid back waiting for the doctor to come see me.
After maybe hour doctor slowly opened the door and when saw me woked up he entered in and closed the door.
-Glad to see you awaked, young commander.- he said. I only nodded and he went to prepare for the operation.
He walked to my bed and placed a strap between my teeths, so I'll not yell when he starts to cut.
-Now lay on your stomach, Commander.
I did as he said and soon felt the cold blade of the scalpel run through my skin. I bit the strap as hard as I can until the doctor stopped and as I could tell open the cut with forceps.
-Okay Commander, I see the rock, and I'll take it out, but this will be the biggest pain you've ever witnessed.-he told me.
-Just go on already!- I yell.
I felt the way that the doctor burned the wound, so it'll stop bleeding. The next thing I know is how he started to pull the stone out of my body with myself too. The pain filled my whole body and when the it reached it's highest amount everything got black and I fell unconscious.
