17 - Initiate

Rene was ready to leave for class, but was hit by the door "I can't believe that!" Jack shouted. Rene stumbled back into the wall and stared at Jack. He looked back and covered his mouth "Shit!" He cursed. Rene wiped her bloody nose "It's okay...might've lost a brain cell, but it's all good" She informed. Jack pulled her into the kitchen and ran a cloth under the water "What were you shouting about?" She asked. Jack blew a piece of hair out of his face "Alyssa was already in the order...she was using us for information" He informed. Jack looked at her "Stand still..." He stated before gently placing the cloth onto her nose. Rene winced "Sorry!" He exclaimed. Rene shook her head "Don't worry about it. What was Alyssa searching for?" She asked. Jack scratched the back of his head "Well..." He said in a high pitched voice. Rene leaned forward "Well what?" She insisted.

"You..." He answered. Rene's eyes widened, but soon relaxed "Oh..." She hummed. Jack pulled the cloth back and examined her nose "All good!" He informed. Rene watched as he threw the bloodied cloth into the sink. He handed her her school bag "Actually, I need to head into the university, so if you want I can drive you" He insisted. Rene nodded "Sounds great".

Rene walked across the main campus into the music campus. She opened the door and ran into Tommy "Oh...hi!" She cheerfully greeted. He smiled "Well, hey!" He spoke. Rene smiled and looked towards her singing tutor "Hey...I've gotta go, but I'll talk to you soon!" She informed. Tommy waved her goodbye and continued on his route.

Rene sat in a recording studio by herself. She wandered the room and looked at various lights and microphones. She looked off and noticed a blue rose sitting with a small note. She walked over and read it. It called Rene to the woods. She put the note in her bag and left the room.

She walked to the spot in the woods where the note told her to go "Hello?" She called. No one was around, and she didn't know what to do. "Hello, initiate," A women said. Rene spun around and saw a cloaked woman wearing a mask. She stumbled back in fear "Don't worry...we are here to recruit you" She spoke. Rene furrowed "What? You can't kill me so you recruit me?" She questioned. The women lifted her left hand to show a coin, then the coin jumped into the other hand. Rene's eyes widened "Cool" She stated.

"You have an hour to find the coin" She ordered. Rene grinned, put her hand out and chanted "Accipe Denarium" And the coin from the woman's hand went into Rene's. The woman removed her mask to reveal Alyssa. Rene nodded "So, Jack was right" She mentioned. Alyssa's eyes were widened "You know magic?" She questioned.

"Of course she does" Vera replied as she appeared from the bushes. Rene raised an eyebrow "It's in my hide" She replied. Vera smiled and walked over to her "We will have great use for you" She informed. Rene folded her arms "I don't want in" She informed. Vera giggled slightly "You have no choice...or else we will make you forget everything you ever knew about your college life" She informed. Rene sighed "Fine!" She gave in.

When Rene got back into the house, she spotted the others. They all seemed to be having fun "Guys..." She attracted. Gabrielle was on Randall's back. Rene's eyes widened "Maybe another time" She finalised before making her way to the staircase. She was at her door when Randall called her "What's wrong?" He asked. She leaned over "Nothing...have fun with her on-" she forced to stop speaking when a black bag went over her face and pulled her into her room. Randall scrambled to attention and ran up to the room. The door shut in his face "Rene!" He shouted as he tried to open the door. Everyone followed when they heard the banging "Move!" Hamish shouted. He ran into the door but to no avail. They finally got the door open but Rene was nowhere in sight.

The bag was removed and she stood in the middle of the temple "What the fuck?!" She shouted. Vera coughed "Language" She warned. Rene leaned forward with a shocked expression on her face "Language? After you kidnapped me, you want me to mind my FUCKING language?" She yelled. The doors burst open to Josh, he grinned at Rene "What the hell!?" She shouted.

Rene scanned the room and spotted Rachel "You've got to be kidding me" She stated to herself. Vera put her hands together "You are probably confused" She stated. Rene spun around "Confused is an understatement" She replied. Vera waved everyone off, Josh sent her a wink, but Rene flipped him off. Vera and Rene went into the office "We have been monitoring you for a while...in fact, ever since the 'death' of your now ex-boyfriend" She informed. Rene stood silently shocked. Vera smiled "Good...no questions" She exclaimed. Rene shook herself to attention "Actually, I do...what do I tell the others?" She wondered. Vera turned around "Tell them. They know about us, they might be mad, but honestly is key" She mentioned before waving her fingers to open the doors.

Rene walked through campus in the dark. She heard the commotion from Randall "You guys go this way, I'll go that way" She heard. She walked around and bumped into him. He looked at her shocked "Hi" She opened. Randall's eyes widened "Hi," he said shocked. Lilith folded her arms "Found her!" She shouted. Randall waved his arms confusingly "What happened? The last thing I remember was a plastic bag going over your head then you disappeared" He explained. She sighed "Can we talk in the house, please?" She questioned.

When they all back, everyone sat down whilst Rene stood. She paced the room, back and forward. Lilith leaned forward "What happened?" She asked. Rene clapped her hands together "Okay...I'm just gonna say it because explaining it is a lot harder" She put. Everyone nodded and leaned forward. She looked forward "I'm in the order" She put. Everyone either stopped moving or their facial expression dropped. Rene went to say something, but Jack jumped up "You're fucking kidding?" He said defensively. Rene put her finger out "Also! Josh isn't dead" She informed. Lilith gasped and Randall's eyes widened "What?" He asked, also jumping up.

"We love a boyfriend and ex-boyfriend fight" Gabrielle laughed. Rene looked at her "Shut it" She mentioned. Rene ran her fingers through her hair "You could've said no!" Randall shouted. Jack then stopped "Randall, wait..." He alerted. Randall got defensive "And now you're working with our enemy!" He shouted. He began to step forward then Hamish jumped to alert.

"Don't you dare get in my face like that!" She shouted back. Lilith leaned on her hand and fiddled with the end of the sofa. Gabrielle kicked her legs up and chewed her gum "You know what they do and you decide to join them anyway!" He continued. Rene didn't know what to do. Her heart beat harder and faster each time he approached her.

"Get away from her" Hamish warned. Lilith was now on full alert. Randall had never freaked out like this "What's going on with you?!" Jack shouted. Hamish looked at Gabrielle then Rene. Rene looked Randall dead in the eye, there was a shift. He now seemed threatening to her "Get away from me" She fussed. Hamish had enough, grabbed him and chucked him through the back window.

A tear dripped Rene's face, she wiped it away quickly and gave her hands a shake. Hamish approached her and placed his hand on her shoulder "Are you okay?" He asked. She didn't move, she stared at the window "It's coming true" She muttered. Hamish looked at Jack "It's time" He announced. Rene furrowed "What?" She questioned. Jack nodded and pulled her out of the house "What's going on?" She whimpered.
