There was a light knock on my door the next day. Groaning, I got up from the bed and walked to open it, I was in my morning attire which consisted of a muscle shirt and some boxers. As I opened the door, I was caught by surprise. Solange was standing there at my door with boxes and luggage.  So she decided to move in today huh, I thought and opened the door wider for her to walk in.

"Good morning." She said with an apparent blush staining her cheeks. I found it cute though.

"Morning. Well this is it, my castle. Let me rephrase that, OUR castle." I emphasized the 'our' part which made her smile and only deepened the blush.

I pointed to her side of the room, and she started placing her things. As with every college student with obsessions, Solange and I had to decorate our halves of the room with examples of our interests. My side was filled with pictures I had taken all throughout high school. Landscapes of meadows and mountains adorned the wall. Solange put up a poster of Edgar Allen Poe, one that listed the requirements of creativity, and a couple pro skater posters. Along with the picture of her parents, she had a picture of a skater catching air. At first I thought it was a picture of her, but the girl had darker, longer hair.

"Hey, Sol, who's the skater?" I nodded to the picture as she stuffed her socks and underwear into her dresser.

She came over and picked up the picture. Her fingers traced it. "That's Kristy, Kristy Daniels. She was my best friend." I don't know why, but the whimsical, almost longing smile that touched her lips when she said it made me jealous.

I bit back the stupid feeling and tried to smile. "Was?"

Solange sighed and with picture on hand she sat on the bed. "Yeah. She was a year ahead of me in school so I haven't seen her in over a year." Shrugging, she grabbed some shirts and opened a drawer. "We still email, but she went to school up north. Since I started University in the summer, I haven't seen her since Christmas Break."

"That's less than a year." I smirked and tried to keep the mood light, but it didn't work.

Sol nodded and continued stuffing clothes on her drawers. "Yea, but she met someone over there and now when we talk she does nothing but talk about love." I detected some bitterness in her voice "I'm happy for her, I really am. It's just that it feels like I'm not there anymore."

The way her shoulders dropped made me feel down instantly. I like her more when she smiling, I thought and draped an arm around her shoulders and removed some of the strand of hair from her face. "No worries Sol, I won't be leaving you anytime soon. So just smile and see the good side to everything." I smiled down at her, just to find her cheeks stained a pinkish red.

"Thanks Melody. You're the greatest" She said and smiled, making my insides all warm and fuzzy.

I laughed and went. "Yeah, it's hard to be perfect, but someone has to do it." I smirked and just chuckled while Sol giggled a bit.
