Either I was over at Trish's room or she was over in ours every day. I should have seen something was really wrong. Last semester Sol had enjoyed when I brought people to the room to work on a project. She even contributed ideas to the project and seemed happy to do so; but from the first day she kept ducking out when we used the dorm room. I honestly thought it was that she needed to study for tests or she had to do research and didn't want any distractions. Exams were only a couple weeks after the project was due, and she was taking the course load from hell. I thought that was all it was.

Solange had ducked out to hit the library, as usual, just after Trish arrived. We went over some ideas, wrote down some concepts that Goldin would consider top of the line. The idea was that we would show 'love' and how it is seen through a lens of a camera. One could say the 'pure' side of love. We were trying to see how the pictures would be, and like the actress I know I can be I softened my eyes and smiled tenderly. It was to show Trish how we could see love on its first stage, but I guess I did that too well. I don't actually remember which one of us leaned in first, but I do remember that Trish closed the gap between us and our lips touched. Her lips were warm against mine and the feeling made my lips tingle. It didn't stop there and next thing I knew we were stripping out of our clothes. Sure, our lips were a lot of places other than our mouths, but I think it was just one long, ecstatic kiss from the point we stopped talking to the point Trish tensed her thighs around my head, crying out from the pleasure I was giving her, when Solange walked in.

The look on her face was indescribable; if you mixed horror, heartbreak, and betrayal together you might get close. I was scrambling off the bed, stammering and looking for my shirt, while Trish was trying to cover herself. Solange just glared at me with a look and finally snapped. She didn't actually say anything but the way her hands grabbed at her hair and the angry tears that streamed down her cheeks made me feel like I'd betrayed her.

"Sol, wait!" I grabbed her arm as she tried to get out the door. The look of raw pain in her eyes caused me to flinch back.

That's when she said it and left. It should have felt amazing but the fact that her eyes seemed sad and betrayed it made me feel like everything was over, even before it started.
