"i don't wanna hear you gotta boyfriend,-" I heard muffled singing from uries classroom and I poked my head around the corner of the door cautiously. And there he was. Almost pumping his fists in time with his brilliant singing voice.
"Sometimes you're better off alone, but if you change your mind you know where I am, yeah if you change your mind you know where to find me.." He chorused on, the emptyness of the classroom caused his voice to project to the back of the room.
I repressed a grin.
"Push another girl aside and just give in!" He sang to the world, "girls love girls and boys! And love is not a choice. "
He managed a 360 spin on his left heel before stomping it to the ground. He slid over two desks gracefully landing on his feet before falling to his knees to complete his sequence with a slide. I grimaced, no doubt those expensive slacks would be ruined but he didn't seem to care.
He finished off with the line "and love is not a choice"
He stared breathlessly at the back of the classroom towards the class pictures. Mine hung amongst them. Which seemed to be the one he was staring pointedly at.
I cleared my throat and his head snapped towards me. His eyes wide and his chest heaving. Without knowing exactly what to do, I clapped.
"That was amazing" I smiled weakly, he returned it with a smirk.
"Thank you, but I'd be worried if it wasn't miss Franco. " I looked to him in confusion to which he replied "I'm famous for it after all. "
"You wrote that song right? " I asked, he nodded raising a curious eyebrow.
"Have you even listened to any of my songs?" He leant back against a desk and I did the same to his desk. I looked down to the floor, blushing madly. Of course I had.... I heard him chuckle, "of course you have"
"I like bittersweet... And the others, but that one is just so jolly.." A grin formed on my face, despite the recent events. This is the first time I had really smiled. He smiled knowingly.
"I'm just setting, I'm just setting a trap-" he started and I shook my head furiously.
"Nope" I began to walk out but he leapt over the tables grabbing my wrist.
"And I'm not pulling, no, im pulling for you you're just pulling at me, I'm not a betting man but this is a sure thing! " he chimed confidently again and I ducked my head. My heartbeat increased as did my urge to sing along.
"I've been to Tokyo and to South africa, so many places, that you may say I've seen it all, but my favourite place is the warm embrace of holding your hair back in a bathroom stall," he willed for me to continue as he sang the background "ba"
"Everything I do is bittersweet, you could tell me secrets that I'll probably repeat," I sang slightly higher than he did but it mixed well.
"I'm not trying to hurt you, I just love to speak, it feels like we're pulling teeth,"
"So bittersweet!" We sang together and he grinned down to me and I took it as my que.
"All that hate is, gonna burn you up! It keeps me warm at night, warmer than anyone-"
"Think how many drinks I've had, no more in either hand, I'm slurring on purpose-" he took my hand,
"And it's certainly worth it!" I leapt onto the table with him and he sang the background vocals, being a feisty "oh".
"Everything I do is bittersweet, you can tell me secrets that I'll probably repeat! " he sang first this time as I harmonised lightly.
"I'm not trying to hurt you, I just love to speak! It feels like we're pulling teeth,"
