Panic was an understatement. I swallowed the massive lump in my throat several times and still it came back. How could i sing infront of everyone if i felt i couldn't even speak?
"Sucks to be you. " Tyson smirked down at me. As i stood beside him it was clear he was taller than average, he peered down at me from the top of his 6ft 4 frame. I sighed and cleared my throat once more as Myers handed us each a microphone.
"You'd better hope its something you know. "
But surely enough i did know the music that started to play. It was by the all american rejects, called 'gives you hell'. It was my favourite of their songs although i haven't ever researched the band. I didn't need another obsession over someone i wouldn't meet. Besides, my dad had internet restrictions because of my brother Danny who was 9 and very naive, i was pretty sure it was for my four year old sister Jamie, and for some reason it only gave me access to social network and educational sites.
They wasn't very famous here anyway, in secondary school only Hunter and i knew who they were.
I glanced at Tyson and that glint was there again. As if he knew something i didn't.
"I wake up every evening, with a big smile on my face, and it never feels out of place... " I threw myself into it before i got too scared and backed out. That happened alot to me.
"And you're still probably working, at a nine to five pace, i wonder how bad that tastes? " He followed on grinning like an idiot.
"When you see my face, hope it gives you hell hope it gives you hell "
"When you walk my way, hope it gives you hell hope it gives you hell. "
"Yes Case, where on earth did that come from! "
"My throat?" I replied cockily, still buzzing from the performance i hadn't wanted to do at first. Hunter shot me a look and slung his arm over my shoulder.
"Although, you coulda congratulated me after that lesson. It's now- " I looked at my watch "Lunch time"
He smiled sheepishly as he grabbed us a tray each and handed me mine. I smirked at him, knowing full well he had gotten on just fine with Addison.
"Although, it was funny that the guy you done the duet with-"
"Tyson "
"Tyson sounded just like the lead singer in that weird but awesome american band. Am i right? "
"I wasn't really listening, i was too busy-"
"Busting out killer notes and moves?"
"Yeah. that. " i could feel the heat rising to my cheeks and i could only look at the mac' n' cheese that was dumped on my plate by a less than attractive lunch lady. I nodded my thanks and she just seemed to grunt back at me so i moved along.
"That was like the god damn glee club! " He chimed my praise again as we sat on one of the rounded tables in the canteen at the back.
"hey " That husky american accent came from behind me, kind of startling me. I turned in my chair, only for him to come and sit across the table.
"You, you were great Cassie. " He grinned that slightly lopsided smile again and i found myself smiling back as Hunter nudged me under the table.
"Ow! " He yelped as i ground my heel on his foot. Tyson raised a dark eyebrow.
"Thanks. So were you! Like, how did you sound exactly like the real guy? "
"You know the band? " He asked, confused. Obviously he was american so he did, i guess he just assumed ALL of the english didn't know who the hell this band were.
