"I just need one more drop of Flynnolium..." Varian muttered to himself as he carefully put one drop of his own compound from a pipette. "Perfect. (Y/n), Rudiger, put your goggles on." Varian warned as he slipped his goggles onto his eyes. I put on my goggles and braced myself for an explosion, even though Varian explained that an explosion happening would not be very likely because if an error happened, there would be a 2.7 percent chance of that happening. Well at least according to Varian. Varian poured in a drop of flynnolium, which would make the substance have a big explosion, but not big enough to hurt us both. The substance started slowly bubbling at the bottom. So far so good.

Suddenly the table was shaking and the substance kept bubbling up. I positioned my goggles again incase I didn't put them on right the first time. Ruddiger Rwandan to the other side of the room and hid behind his floofy tail.

"Varian. What is happening?!" I screeched as I grabbed the alchemist by his maroon vest collar.

"It might explode, so we should be getting to the other side of the room with Ruddiger now. I miscalculated, which was dumb, so sorry if this hurts us in any way!" Varian stammered as he grabbed my arm and rushed both of us to a place where we could see the explosion but still keep our distance.

BOOM!

The green substance exploded and spattered all over the wall. Varian was frightened by the noise and clung onto my arm. I thought he would have been use to the noises by now, but maybe not the flynnolium, even though he made it when he was fourteen. Literally two years ago.

"Oh thank goodness none of us need to go to a hospital, you don't need to go to a hospital, right (Y/n)?!" Varian spoke with a  panicked tone. I ruffled his jet black hair and put his goggles back on his head.

"We're all fine you dork. Man, you're sounding so over protective that it sounds like you're in love with me." You scoffed as you went to go get cleaning supplies to get the alchemy mess off the walls. Varian just chuckled as you walked out of the room wind climbed up the stairs. Ruddiger chirped something and rolled his eyes.

"Buddy, I'm not in love with them. Trust me, where did you even get that idea?" Varian lied through his buck teeth. Ruddiger had a load of doubt on his face while staring at the  sixteen year old alchemist.

"I mean they're just a friend, it's perfectly normal to like the way they smile and laugh and how adorable they look doing literally anything." Varian said in a dreamy voice while leaving his hand on his chin slowly daydreaming. Ruddiger did a face palm and went back upstairs to go and find you.
