I plopped down onto the couch, sighing as my younger sister watched She-Ra on the television. (Y/n) is supposed to be here by now, it's 9:27 PM. The haunted house starts at 10:30 and we wanted to stop by the gas station to get a slurpee and sour skittles. I heard a ding and looked down at my phone screen.

"𝙄'𝙢 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙑𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣! 𝙎𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚."

I smiled at my phone as I got up and grabbed my black hoodie from the coat hanger. I slipped my phone in my pocket as I started heading out the door, but was interrupted by doing so.

"Where are you going, nerd? Are you going out with (Y/n)? Oooooh!" Amethyst joked in a sing-song voice as she danced to her own melody.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance. "Listen Amy, (Y/n) is just a friend. Trust me, they have no interest in me. Plus, I am going with my friend group, so don't get any ideas." I scoffed as I put my hood up and started walking out the door.

"Alright, say what you want Varian, but you're wrong. Plus, aren't you supposed to be in costume?" Amethyst joked.

"I'm in costume Amy. I'm supposed to be Blathers from Animal Crossing. I'm just wearing the vest under my hoodie and putting on the face paint while we wait for the others to arrive. Now I've got to go." I ran out the door and grabbed my skateboard from the front yard as I skated down the road to get to (Y/n).

"About time dork. What took you so long?" (Y/n) questioned while getting back on the astrology themed skateboard and adjusting the yellow hat they were wearing.

I tilted my head in confusion. "Who from the Animal Crossing npc's are you supposed to be again?"

"Didn't Rapunzel and Eugene give you a list? Rapunzel is being Isabelle, Eugene is being Tom Nook, Lance is being Redd, Cass is being Flick, and I'm being Kicks. Now come on, we can't be late, we got to go." (Y/n) ordered as we started skating down the road.

𝙏𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧...

(Y/n) and I arrived at the haunted house earlier than expected, so I still had time to make the finishing touches on my costume. I got the face paint from my hoodie pocket and took out a painted mirror that I got for my fifteenth birthday from Rapunzel.

(Y/n) looked puzzled. "You carry a mirror with you?" They questioned, as if I was crazy.

"You don't carry a mirror with you?" I ask as if it were the most obvious thing on Earth. (Y/n) muttered something about me being a dork, but I ignored it.

I heard a sigh from (Y/n). "I forgot to put my colored contacts in. I'll be right back, I need to find a mirror." (Y/n) was about to get up as I cleared my throat and pointed at the hand mirror in my hand. "Oh. Now I get why you carry that." They chuckled as I handed them the mirror. (Y/n) placed the dark fuchsia contacts in and plopped the mirror in my hands.

I smiled. "Thanks. You know, I miss your (e/c) eyes already." Did I really just say that. (Y/n) smiled and brushed it off and tried looking in the other direction all of a sudden. Something probably caught their eye. Apparently, it did, since the rest of the friend group started walking towards us.

"Hey kid, what are you wearing? Aren't you supposed to be Blathers? Or are you supposed to be an angsty teenager that listens to My Chemical Romance every two seconds?" Eugene scoffed, as he eyed my outfit. I forgot to take my hoodie off to show the costume.

I rolled my eyes at Eugene, who was dressed as a rich raccoon."Haha, very funny. I'll take off my sweater." I took off my sweater, revealing my white collared shirt with a brown vest on top. Eugene gave me a thumbs up.

"Hey (Y/n), can I put my face paint stuff in your backpack?" I asked. (Y/n) grabbed my stuff and placed it in the velvet red backpack. "Now, should we get in the haunted house?"

"Yeah sure. There won't be anything to be afraid of, I'm sure of it kiddos." Lance promised. I already knew where this was going to end up. Lance has a giant fear.

Rapunzel looked concerned for her friend. "Lance, there are going to be spiders in the haunted house. Are you sure you'll even be able to handle this?" Lance's eyes widened in fear as his hands started to tremble.

"Nope! Never mind, how about we go to Dairy Queen instead, Eugene?" Lance asked nervously as he started pacing in the mud in the grass. Eugene rolled his eyes and started to go in the opposite direction of the haunted house.

"I'll go with Lance, you all go to the fun house." Eugene sighed as he trudged away. You know, I bet Cassandra has written fanfiction about them at some point.

"Well then kids, let's just get this haunted house over with." Cass groaned as she started trudging up the hill to the house.

"Cass, you know you can't hurt anyone in the haunted house, right? It's against the rules, and I am not letting you get all of us kicked out of this place. The tickets cost fifteen dollars, and I am not losing fifteen bucks because of you." (Y/n) reminded.

"No promises~" Cass sang.

"Come on Cass, they're right. We need to have a good time and not get kicked out. And if we do, we are never coming back. Understand?" Rapunzel scolded.

"Yes, mom." Cass teased as Rapunzel got all defensive and made an entire slideshow on how she wasn't a mother figure. (Y/n) scoffed as we all got to the ticket stand and gave the guy our tickets.

"Now remember kids, here are the rules. The people inside cannot touch you, and you cannot touch them. No food or drinks inside, we don't want spills, and don't go in if you are sensitive to blood or jump scares. Good luck all of you!" The guy waved and we all walked towards the entrance.

"You sure you're not scared?" I asked (Y/n).

They chuckled, "Oh please, most of these are animatronics."

...

"I'm well aware of that (Y/n)." I responded. How can someone not be afraid of animatronics? They're terrifying, am I the only one that thinks this?!

"I played Five Nights at Freddy's when I was younger. How bad could this be?" (Y/n) scoffed as they did a fake hair flip in the air. I shook my head as we stepped inside. Everyone got scared at one time or another. Rapunzel got jump scared by an actor and nearly fell over backwards. (Y/n) nearly stepped in puke and almost hurled themselves, Cass accidentally got touched by an actor, and I got scared by an animatronic. It was dumb, I've got to admit.
