As we walked to Chris's house with Buddy happily yelping behind us, I got a call from Rick.
"Hello", I said picking up.
"Bro, Where are you!?"
"What do you care?"
"Look, wherever you are---stay there!"
"What's going on?", I anxiously asked.
"Please, don't come home, Sarah", Rick said as he hung up, saying nothing more.
"Who was that?", Chris asked, picking Buddy up. "My brother ---I think" "You think? Don't you know your own brother's voice?", he teased. "That's not what I mean. He sounded concerned. I don't know. He told me not to come home. I don't know. Let's get to your house.", I said, as I faintly smiled at Chris. "Is everything OK?", he asked. "I honestly have no idea. I don't know.", I replied, truthfully.
We finally made it to Chris's house. It was so big. It was also surprisingly well-kept.
"Woah.", I said in shock. "Not what you were expecting?", he asked. "Not at all!", I said, looking into the garden. "I see. Most people expect something really small and broken-down." "No! I didn't mean it that way!", I quickly replied. "I mean a guy that lives by himself. It's fine, Sarah.", he said, laughing.
As he went in, I followed behind. He led me to his room. It wasn't very fancy like the rest of the house. It was flooded with band posters. The posters ranged from Black Veil Brides to Get Scared. He had a few solo artists up, too.
"Woah! I never knew that we had so much in common!" "Are you kidding?! I love Get Scared!", he said looking at me.
We both stared at each other and shouted out "Egotistic Cynical!"
We talked about different bands for a good while.
"I hate peeps who only claim to like BVB because of Andy. The band is awesome.", Chris said, putting his soda on his dresser. "Well, I think Andy's hot, but I like the band, too.", I replied embarrassed.
We talked a bit more, and then I saw Chris staring at a picture from across the room. It was a picture of a woman and man hugging each other with a child on the man's shoulders.
Are those people his parents?
As if reading my mind, Chris said," Yea, those are my folks." "Your mother was very pretty, and your father was quite the looker as well.", I said, attempting to cheer him up. "Yea. I wished they'd stayed with me a bit longer. I think they would've loved you." "Really?", I asked. "Yea. Hey, it's kind of late. Wanna get some sleep?" "Yea, I suppose so. Night, Chris.", I said, turning over. "Night, Sarah.", he said as he brushed my hair behind my ear and gave me a light kiss on my nose.
I was really happy I came, but I wanted to know what was going on at my house. Did I really? Hmm--I don't know. As my thoughts all jumbled together, I finally found myself drifting into a deep and peaceful sleep in Chris's arms.
