Is it a date? Is it not?

"Ok class!" The teacher spoke up. The crowd of teens sitting at their desks quickly shot their heads up to listen to her. "Does everybody know what's coming up soon?" The class was as silent as a void. The teacher sighed and shook her head, "Has anyone here heard of the dance?" Suddenly, a spring of conversations started, everyone's attention diverting from the teacher.

"Dance? I didn't even know schools did that, I only saw them in movi-" Makoto stated, but was interrupted by Asahina who yelled, "WOOOOO DANCE!" The luckster frowned, but couldn't contain himself- ultimately (pun intended) letting out a soft chuckle. Togami couldn't help but feel his heart melt at the sound of the brunette laughing. The heir sat at the same table as Makoto, Aoi, Sakura, Taka, and Hifumi, conversing about the topic of a dance, but of course nothing serious, just a bunch of high schoolers joking about it.

"You do realize that in most 'school dance' scenarios, you would bring a date, yes?" Hifumi held his finger up as his round glasses shone, concealing his knowing eyes. "Yes, a date." Taka nodded, holding his chin and glancing at another group. Hifumi giggled. "Soooo, does everybody have an idea of who they want to ask out?" He questioned. Everybody at the table started staring at each other, somewhat conveying to one another that they did, in fact, have someone in mind. Togami, however, simply crossed his legs and pouted. "This is stupid," he huffed out annoyingly, peeking a look at Makoto to see if he planned to ask out another person. Makoto's expression was a bit anxious, his eyes jittered around the class, trying to avoid eye contact with the heir.

Soon enough, classes ended. Like usual, the classes packed their bags and exited their classrooms, trotting through the hallways to find their lockers. Togami did the same.

When he unlocked his locker, he sighed and skimmed over his options. 'Do i confess to Naegi by asking him out to the dance and telling him there, or do i leave it and ask him out a proper date so we can be alone?' He thought to himself, shuffling through the binders in his locker. He shook his head, asking him out to the dance was the only chance he'd get.

Time skip to the end of the day

'I need to text him...' The heir thought to himself, quickly taking his phone out of his pocket. The smell of the air freshener in the limousine lingered throughout his senses, calming him down. Building up his nerves, he quickly typed a message to Makoto

Makoto Naegi

Will you go to the school dance with me?

He anxiously waited for a response from his crush.

The minutes ticked by..

1 minute...

2 minutes...

3 minutes...

4.... 5..... 6, 7, 8 , 9-

Suddenly, a ding followed by a bright light piercing into his eyes woke him up.

Togami slowly opened his eyes,

and stared at his screen-

as a single tear ran down his cheek.

He had been waiting all day for Makoto to respond.

He stared at the message in shear disbelief.

so because i'm a really cool awesome and amazing person i'm gonna give you a list of dance pairs!!!11!q! yayayayayyy!

Hifumi asked Celeste, Chiaki, Kaede, and many other girls out, but all of them declined

Chiaki ended up asking Hajime out, but he said "I love you, but no." and he went out with a
bottle of orange juice instead. people stared at him, but he didn't seem to care. (Komaeda also seemed jealous of
the orange juice, he was just curled up in a corner and cried himself to hell and back,,,)

Aoi and Sakura both asked eachother out at the same time and went together

Kokichi begged Shuichi to be his date, but Shuichi gave him a weird look
(he went with kokichi anyway)

Celeste asked out Kyoko, and she said yes (goth gf yasssss queen 🥺✨)

Taka asked Mondo, and Mondo gladly accepted, calling Taka his "Bromance buddy"

Hiyoko didn't even need to ask to go with Mahiru. Mahiru, being the sweet mommy she is,
went with her anyways to make sure she wouldn't be scared

Rantaro went with an avocado with a sticky note on it that wrote "shuichi saihara"
needless to say he was probably jealous of Kokichi

Kaito asked Maki, and Maki accepted, saying "do you wanna die?"
i don't know how that counts as accepting but i guess Maki just has her own language

Kaede went with Miu, who violently asked her out. by violently, i mean buying a bouquet of roses
and shouting insults at her as she knelt down on one knee

Toko and Komaru went to different schools, but Toko eventually found a way to sneak her in.

Tenko asked out Himiko, who accepted happily (awwww happy gays 💕💕🏳️‍🌈)

Nekomaru asked out Akane by bribing her with food.

Fuyuhiko went out with Peko. Apparently they asked eachother out at the same time too...

Ibuki asked out Mikan, who accepted but said she was 'too stupid and dumb' to go out with her.

Hagakure's date to the dance was a pack of freshly rolled weed 420 blaze it 🔥 yuh
he also shared some edibles with Leon, who got high, as well as Tenko who was jokingly
told to try weed by Himiko (Monokuma got high too but we don't talk about that lmao)
