Chapter 6

I wake up with a huge headache. I open my eyes confused when everything comes back to me. I almost kissed Waverly. God Wynonna is gonna kill me. I sit up quickly and groan, rubbing my head. "God..." I mumble.

I hear someone walk up beside me so lookup. I see Waverly holding out a Tylenol and water. I thank the younger Earp and take them. "How are you feeling? You were pretty drunk last night." The brunette says, sitting down beside me.

I sigh. "Well my head hurts but besides that I'm good... So uh about last night..." I'm about to say something about the almost kiss when someone knocks on the door.

Waverly gets up and opens the door, revealing Robin and Jeremey. Today is a free day, so everyone gets to whatever they want. The counsellors usually just hangout. Waverly looks back at me. "I'm going to hang out with Jer and Robin for a bit. Will you tell Nonna when she's up?" She asks and I nod.

Waverly smiles at me and leaves with the boys. "So. What's going on with you and baby Earp?" I hear a voice says, scaring me. I look over and see Mercedes walking out of the bathroom. I look at her bed confused and then back at her, and I realize she was in the shower because her hair is wet.

"I warning would be great, Mercedes. And nothing is going on..." She gives me a look, clearly unconvinced. I sigh. "Fine. Last night we might've almost kissed. I don't know. I mean it almost happened but I was really drunk. If I was sober it wouldn't have happened... at least I don't think so." I say, making Mercedes laugh.

"Yeah I said the same thing about Wynonna when we kissed the first time. You need to figure out your feelings, Haught. Now, Wynonna wanted to talk to Doc today and clear the air, so we should go hangout. Just us redheads." She says, smiling.

I nod. Me and Mercedes are closer than people assume. Me, Wynonna and Mercedes have always been really close. People just think I'm closer with Wynonna, but its equal. I go and change in the bathroom before me and Mercedes leave to go on a walk.

We left a note for Wynonna so she knows where everyone is when she wakes up. "So. You and Wynonna. You made it official?" I say, putting my hands in my pockets. Today is kind of cold out, so I have ripped jeans and one of my hoodies.

Mercedes smiles and nods. "Yeah... The other night at the island. After we sobered up a bit Wynonna pulled me aside and asked me to be her girlfriend..." She says, making me smile.

"Well, I'm happy for you. Anyone with eyes can see you're better for her. Her and Doc just had emotionless sex. You two have feelings." I notice her looking down blushing.

"Alright enough about me and Wynonna. Talk to me about how you feel about Waverly. I wanna help you out." The redhead says, wrapping her arm around my shoulder.

I sigh. "I just want to protect Waverly... She doesn't deserve anything bad. She's just so kind and funny and gorgeous. She's just... she deserves the world and I just want to protect her..." She looks at Mercedes.

"Yeah you are totally falling for the little earp. I respect it though. The Earp sisters are amazing." She says and I nod in agreement.

I've know Mercedes and the Earps since I moved to Purgatory when I was 5. Waverly was only 4. Now we're 18 and she's 17. Doc is a year older than us, and Robin and Jeremy are Waverlys age. The seven of us, plus Chrissy who's Waverlys age, were super close. We hung out all the time.

Until Rosita showed up and we went into high school. Me, Mercedes, Wynonna, Doc and Rosita split up from the younger four. I've always regretted that. We were still close, but not as close. That closeness completely disappeared in grade 10 when Champ showed up. That was almost 3 years ago.
