THIRD POV
Shikamaru was conflicted. Every part of him yearned for that beautiful blonde headed fool. He walked closer to the desk, looking deep into Naruto's blue eyes. "I'm not leaving. I won't ever leave your side." In that moment time had stopped. It's as if the entire world was gone and they were only beings left. Both men felt the sparks between them. You would almost have to blind not to realize it. Naruto stood up from his seat, closing more distance between them. Only inches separated their body's and lips from touching. Unfortunately for them, a knock was heard. Quicky naruto sat back down in his seat, clearing his throat.
Naruto Pov
I couldn't believe it; and believe it was his moto. They almost kissed. My heart felt as if it would burst out of my chest. My eyes were focused on Kakashi, who just came into the office. But my thoughts were on Shika. Soon, another voice filled his mind.
Kurama had laid down in the mindscape and gave a animal like grin. "So kit, when are you going to just kiss him already?"
Naruto glared at the giant fox and crossed his arms over his chest. "Shut up; we aren't going to kiss. I'm married and so is he." Saying those words hurt me, but it was the truth. A sigh came from my lips as I sat down beside of Kurama. "I want Shikamaru. I want to be the reason he smiles, I want to be his reason for everything. But I can't, he has Temari for that."
Kurama nudged him with his snout. "I understand kit. But maybe he has those feelings for you as well. You can't keep leading Hinata on. And too be honest, I believe she realizes that you don't have those feelings for her."
Naruto listened to Kurama. I knew that Hinata had noticed. Hell, I cant even remember the last time we were actually intimate. As his thoughts were running wild, someone was shaking him in the real world. My eyes began to blink rapidly as I focused on my surroundings. "Ahh, Sorry Kakashi Sensei and Shikamaru. I'm not feeling too well." Kakashi raised an eyebrow at him and spoke in an odd tone. "Don't work yourself too hard Naruto. Make sure you have to time to enjoy life. Especially with those you love. Also, here is a bottle of Saki. It's from Tsunade and I. This job can drive any person to drink." He did his signature wave and disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Naruto could feel the stare of Shikamaru. "Shika, please I'm fine."
Shikamaru shook his head and leaned close to Naruto. The back of his hand touched my forehead then pulled away. Shika gently laid a hand on his cheek. "You aren't warm or anything. Please, tell me if something is going on."
