Cora's pov

My head is still trying to wrap itself on what the hell just happened. I'm speechless and I just don't know what to think.

One second Cliff is here saying he wants me back then insulting me and the next thing I know Jago is beating Cliff's face to a bloody pulp. It all happened so fast, no one saw it coming, at least I didn't.

Now I'm here in Jago's arms as he holds my body tightly but still gentle not enough to hurt me. I pull away and search for his eyes. He doesn't look mad as I thought he'd be but I still can't read his face. He probably doesn't want anything to do with me anymore. Just great.

"You okay?"
I nod my head. "Think so."
Now that my heads on right I notice his lip is busted.
"But look at you, you're bleeding!"
He shrugs. "It's fine. Probably just a scratch."

"Look I get that you have this bad guy vibe you got going on, but even bad guys bruise and hurt." I smile.

I take his hand and lead him to the back and he sits on a counter. I fill a bucket with water and grab a towel.

"This might hurt." I dip the towel in the warm water and bring it to his lip. He doesn't flinch. I dab gently at his wound as I feel the burning of his eyes watching me carefully making me nervous.

I dip the towel and grab one of his hurt hands. "I'm sorry." I say as I gently clean his bloody knuckles.

"Not your fault." His low voice soothed.
"Kinda is." I said, now done cleaning up his wounds.

He stopped my movements by placing his hands on my shoulders.
"Cora, what would have happened if I didn't step in?" His eyes curious.

I looked away from his piercing eyes.
Clearing my throat, I lied. "Nothing."

"That's bullshit. Tell me Cora. Has he ever hit you?" His voice questions in disbelief.

His eyes turn cold and angry when I don't respond.
"Did you ever tell anyone about this." Jago demanded.

"It was only when I made him angry!" I pleaded sounding stupid. Why did I ever let Cliff treat me like this.

"You're not seriously defending him are you!" He yelled and stood up.

"No.. I'm not. I just.. I don't know what to think right now!" I matched his tone.

He sighed. "I'm just glad he's gone. You're lucky you were here to stop me because I swear if I ever do see him again Cora, I will not hesitate to beat the shit out of him. Any man should know better than to not hit a woman."

"That still doesn't make it okay for you to hit him Jago." I sigh.

He bowed his head in defeat.
"He just can't do that Cora." He frowned.

"I know Jago.. I know."

"Hey, you should do that more often."

"Do what?"

"Speak without thinking." He said in a serious tone.

What the hell is he talking about?

"Never mind." He chuckles. "Thank you Cora for.." He points to his lip and knuckles.

"Anytime Jago. And thank you.. for.. uhh.. saving me from that back there?" I questioned with a smile at the weird sort of events that just happened.

"Sure thing Cora. I'll see ya." He says before leaving and not realizing he left his book.

I still don't know what the hell just happened. But I do know that I need to know more about this mysterious boy that literally saved me from my psycho ex boyfriend.

-sorry for short chapter. I swear they will be longer! Anyways Jago dropped a major clue and Cora is just as confused as I would be. Lol well okay bye babes💟
