The next morning our family woke up to a calm, noise and drama free house ,I got ready and when I got downstairs everyone was seated at the table in the kitchen since the rest of the house still needed a rundown and some of the damages needed to be fixed and cleaned, dad was reading the newspaper and mom was sipping her coffee while she spoke to tiara about school ,I was about to join them when the doorbell rang ,” I'll get it “ I yelled and I opened the door ,to my surprise it was the delivery man from the florist on the corner of our road “package for Ms.N.Neilson “ That’s me I said as I signed his clipboard and accepted he beautiful arrangement of red and white roses ,I searched for the note once I got to the table and put the flowers down .It was enough for dad to stop reading his newspaper and look at me and mom and tiara to stop talking
I finally found the note and was shocked, it was from the lawyer that visited yesterday ,it said he was sorry for getting off on the wrong foot and that he would like to meet up with me for coffee this afternoon and that he would pick me up at three
Dad went off and his voice snapped me back to reality and I finally listened to what dad was going on about and I smiled ”who does this guy think he is ,to meet me and charm me and then ask my daughter out as if he lived on the block for years ,stupid freaking idiot “calm down dad it's just coffee as a chat it's not like he is asking me to marry him I said and dad sat back down in his seat while mom went to go get breakfast I took the arrangement and the note to my room after breakfast and I placed it on my desk and I stared at it ,I realised that he didn’t give me a choice in the matter and I needed to know what he wanted I was lost in thought again when dad knocked on my locked room door
I got such a shock that I jumped out of my socks, I walked over to the door and let dad in, he sat down on the seating in front of the tv in my room and I sat on the chair across from him ,he then began giving me the be careful and ill kill this guy if he hurts you talk that he used to give me in high school. I stopped him and soon we both began giggling as we reminisced about the old days
Dad then told me that after hearing our case and how terrible his client carol was he decided not to defend her .i asked dad how carol found out about the case and managed to hire a lawyer in that time. Dad took a deep breath and then explained that Bryce found that carol was seeing the guy she dated before him and he called up and explained everything ,the guy however vowed that carol was his one and only true love and decided to protect her and so he hired the lawyer that saw us yesterday ,but he is refunding this guys money and is going to take our case since it is stronger and can be won easily,he also told me that the guy who hired the lawyer was engaged to carol since Monday last week and so with us suing carol and him basically we will be getting millions if we play this right
I wondered who this guy could be but my thoughts were interrupted when dad gave me the lawyer's card with his number on it and told me that if something came up before three and I needed to cancel I could call him up and make other arrangements ,I thanked dad as he walked out of my room and hugged him goodbye. I locked the door behind him like I always did since I turned twenty and I walked back to where we were sitting and turned on the TV to my favourite medical drama
My thoughts began to wonder back to yesterday and I remembered how I felt and what happened but my phone rang and I left it to ring I turned it over and was soon engrossed in the soap opera again, once it was finished I checked my voicemail and was shocked to hear carol making threats and cursing I looked out of my room window and there she was
Carol was wearing heels and dancing all over dads car ,I ran downstairs and told dad to look out of the window and he immediately called the police while I went outside and tried to make carol get of the car ,I looked across the road and saw a guy in a suit laughing with carol and motivating her to continue I heard the sirens and carol got down and ran toward the guy I ran after her but she was too fast I tripped and fell on the drive and they got into the car and drove of before the police even got here , I got up and I seemed fine but I was outraged , why is it the carol always gets what she wants when she wants and can get away with murder ?dad handed the police the security camera footage of carol and I gave them the voicemail I received from her just minutes before she arrived and went crazy
The alarm I set on my phone for half past two went off and I went upstairs to my room to get dressed ,I came downstairs at five minutes to three and I heard moms car rumble into the drive way ,I knew dad would be outside assessing the damage and mom and tiara were shocked at the site of dads car while dad explained everything to mom ,tiara came in ,I was sitting at the kitchen table and she chattered about her great shopping spree with mom and told me about all the nice things she got while she made herself a snack
Mom joined us a few seconds later and soon we were engaged in chat, it was three o clock on the dot when dad came in to tell me that Marshall was here, dad answered the front door when the door bell rang and I joined him in the hall as he greeted Marshall ,Marshall greeted me and handed me another bunch of flowersand as I accepted it ,it started again,my heart was beating faster and my brain shut off ,and this time I stared off into space ,mom broke the spell when she took the flowers from my hand and pulled dad away under the pretence that there was a call for him in the kitchen
Marshall and I walked out to his car when he noticed the damage done to dads car ,he asked what happened and I explained the whole story to him on the way to the coffee shop unknowingly I was also venting out all my anger and frustration ,I stopped when I realised that he was smiling and had been absolutely silent the whole time ,I apologised and he looked at me when the light turned red
There is not need to be sorry ,I enjoyed listening to that it gave me a better view of the situation and it probably made you feel better so it is a win- win situation ,the light turned green before I could speak again and I thought to myself ,he was right,I did feel better and maybe it was worth it ,
When we got to the coffee shop and were seated I thanked him for the flowers I had received that morning and he told me that he felt terrible for accepting that crazy womans case ,I began thanking him for helping my family out and he asked if I still had the voicemail and the footage ,I took out my cell phone and he took out his ,he took my number and me his and I sent him the things he had asked for ,
He placed his hand on the hand that I had on the table and he looked at me in the eyes and said that if I ever needed anything or needed to vent I could always call him ,he moved his hand into a handshake and asked if we could be friends and I agreed,I shook his hand
It was five o clock when we finally reached my house again,he walked me to the door and we said goodbye I went inside and was met by my family who seemed to be spying on what I had done they all looked at me with eyes full of curiosity and I laughed ,we all walked over to the kitchen and mom dished out ice cream for us to have while I told them about everything that happened ,I told them about his farthers business and how he became a lawyer and we all sat in the kitchen until after supper talking about anything and everything
It was half past eleven when I decided to get ready for bed I wasn’t tired yet but decided t get into something comfortable ,I grabbed the book I was reading and sat in the swinging chaaird on the terrace of my room,my phone rang and I ran in to answer it
