I was awoken when I felt the same heated feeling I got whenever marshall was around or said something that left my heart pounding ,I went into a fit of histerics and for some reason I felt suffocated and could not breath ,
Luckily marshall was there and he quickly lifted me in one motion and seated me outside in the swinging chair and raced to get water ,when he came back out with the water I could breathe much better and had calmed down
I apologised for frightening him and he handed me the glass and helped me drink it since I was still a little bit shaky he looked into my eyes and I saw something that I never saw before ,he looked like he was about to give someone bad news but instead he leaned over to me and lightly kissed my lips and said “that was the biggest shock of my life and I don’t know what I would have done if I lost you”
My heart began to speed up again and I felt faint and I soon felt my hit the metal and everything went black
When I opened my eyes again I expected to be in bed and that it was all a dream ,but as my eyes adjusted I found myself in a hospital room ,the nurse in the room calmed me down and told me to take slow deep breaths ,she told me I was fine and that the doctor will be in soon ,I asked if I could see my family and she said that she would send them in
Within a couple of seconds my mother burst through the door and looked at me as if I had just had a major operation ,and from the swollen rims of her red eye I knew that she had been crying ,I quickly assured her that I was fine and my dad walked over and squeezed my mothers shoulder ,as I glanced over moms shoulder I saw Marshall was standing there ,I asked if I could speak to marshall alone and dad and mom left the room
I felt like I was having one of those “out of the body experiences” my head was as light as a cloud and my body felt like I was being held down by brick . Marshall walked over to the bed and sat next to me clasping my cold hands in his warm ones, and I felt like an electric shock bolted through my body ,all words were gone and I felt breathless
“are you okay?” he asked and I said nothing but I nodded my head which made my eyeballs bang against my skull, there were so many questions i wanted to ask and so many feelings needed to be clarified but I couldn’t ,my body refused to cooperate with me
“you don’t have to say anything sweetheart, I know what is going through your head and I promise that ill answer all of your questions in due time but for now please take rest and get well really soon” he said it with such ease and it made me appreciate him, with much effort I asked him If he would mind staying the rest of the weekend with me since I wanted to clear a few things up with him and this was the only way I knew how
We were interrupted by a distraught tiara rushing into the room as if she were expecting to see a person on their death bed, her eyeliner was streaked down her face and her hair was all tangled and hung loosely down her back , she ran over to me and hugged me and soon after mom and dad came in and apologised for letting Tiara in ,I laughed causing the room to rumble with giggles and life seemed perfect ,I had everything and I thought “what could possibly go wrong?”then it occurred to me nothing ever went well ever since carol came into our lives ,she always ruined every perfect moment
And just as I thought the door flew opened and a howling carol stood at the doorway as if she had cared and she was followed by the guy in the suit “think of the devil and there she appears I thought” carol was walking over to the bed and dad pulled out his phone from his pocket ,I knew that dad was going to call the police but to my surprise Marshall stood up ,his figure towered over carol causing her to stop and look at him
He stood between carol and me and I knew that there were two ways for this to end ,the good way or the bad way ,my train of thought came to a screeching hault when I heard marshall speak in a brooding deep voice that ive never heard before “if you dare come any closer under the pretence that you care ill have you thrown out of here” he said to the man at the door who began to approach as if he were part of the family for years instead of the guy that no one in the room knew anything about
Marshall lowered his gaze to meet that of carols and he said in a cold voice “I suggest you get out of here and stop this melodramatic act before I sue your ass into next century for emotional trauma and mental instability” for the first time in three months carol shuddered in fear and turned to walk out ,Marshall sat down at my feet and I looked into the ochre depths of his large rage filled eyes I saw something I have never dreamt of seeing ,something that I couldn’t even identify it was so pure that I knew not what to think of it ,it seemed to brighten up the room
Awhile later Tiara broke the silence by stating that the showdown between Marshall and carol was definite movie worthy stuff and suggested that Marshall became and actor instead of a lawyer and everyone laughed
Mom's eyes reassessed Tiara's appearance and she nudges dads shoulder, dad called Marshall out off the room and within minutes dad explained to Marshall the situation ,Marshall was glad to stay with me and they promised that they would be back soon and told me that the only reason they were leaving was because Tiara looked like the walking dead and needed to get changed
Marshall offered to walk them to the car and dad accepted ,when they all left the room I sat alone and had nothing more to think about than Marshall ,he seemed to shed a certain light on my soul that warmed me from the inside out and I didn’t know what it was, it was a feeling that made me feel complete and made me fuzzy minded
I was deep in thought and was genuinely startled when Marshall came back ,but calmed down when I saw that he came back with a bouquet of red roses and a teddy bear my eyes filled with tears and I had to fight them away
I looked at Marshall with a new perspective and I admired him for his bravery and strength as well as his downfalls ,he came over and sat down and handed me the gifts he had just gotten and I was once again at a loss for words ,all I could do was look into his eyes ,they were so deep I felt like I was drowning in them
I would have been lost in them forever if the doctor didn’t come in and break the spell marshall greeted the doctor and I squeezed his hand since my nerves grew tight at the results he doctor might give and he placed his other hand over mine as a sign of comfort
“Ms Nielson ,im sure you know exactly why you are here and if not ill tell you ,you do not have enough nutrients and so your body had a malfunction not to mention the fact that your blood sugar levels are extremely low ,I trust that you will start taking better care of yourself and take these medications on time and come in next week for a check up if you are still experiencing these symptoms” the doctors words hung in the air in the room and Marshall looked at me with the sigh of relief and I let out a breath that I didn’t even realise I was holding
The doctor permitted my discharge and Marshall helped me up and out of the hospital ,dad had given Marshall my car keys andno matter how hard I fought to drive us home Marshall refused
