Act 2. Chapter 6: A study on the boy who cannot be given a second chance
He shouldn't have come to school.
He shouldn't have. He shouldn't have. He shouldn't have.
The doctor already warned him, his mother already scolded him, and Arthur did mention that he will sooner or later put sleeping concoction in his tea if he proves to be more of a headache after this day.
"Just this day, Colin." Arthur reminded him before he leaves. "I'll fetch you from school."
He complained, but Arthur didn't listen to his whines and just prepared the thing he called the TOTD (tea of the day).
He should have listen. Because for today, Jacques is not at school. He mentioned he was 'on a date' with Powley so the two will be occupied for the whole day. It was Monday and people his age in England are more rambockus than they usually are, adding to the fact that they are allowed to drink at 16. His classmates are all around him, asking questions while his own ears are letting out a high pitched ting.
One particular dude was shouting at his ears, being rude and being a big bully. He kept saying, "Do you hear me? Man, he is not right in the head anymore." What irritated him even more is that a group of boys followed the boy's example and laughed at his face. He would have expected this scenario, but he also expected Jacques to handle it together with him.
"Ye not really speaking, ey? You know what, you are better after being possessed in the Bear House. Better than what you were, a half twit."
He punched one of them, finally.
The teasing had not stopped there. Though the girls and some decent boys were saying they deserve the punch and they should stop, it only added to the noise that was being directed to him. It may be the tumor because his headache is reaching to new heights.
"Maybe he's just making all this up so people could pity him."
"Yeah, he has always been an attention seeker."
"The Bear House is just an urban legend. Who knows, maybe he's just having a pot session there every time."
He ran out of the school before the first subject could even start.
The weather is the usual, grey and soggy. He forlornly took the wet road, walking slow for the lack of energy to sprint back home. He knows he must at least hurry as the rain will come soon, but what's the point, he thought, whether he gets drenched or not, the world will stay the same.
On the way, he met a couple who were hogging one small umbrella. The guy, who was wearing a beanie and ugly-coloured vest, called him out. "Hey, you're the boy in the tabloids. The one who got out alive from the Bear House?"
