☆ UNITY DAY ☆

WITH THE HEADPHONES over her ears, Allaia was sitting with Bellamy in the main tent, nervously waiting for the audition with the Chancellor Jaha. He appeared on the other side of the screen, facing them both with an indifferent expression written on his features.
"Mr. Blake." Jaha greeted. "And Miss Kane." An undertone of bitterness was breaking through among his apparently neutral tone nevertheless.
There was something strange about the way he uttered her name — hinting, with audible distance — that Chancellor Jaha was undeniably anxious. He was aware that Allaia held a great amount of power over him. After all, Jaha not only scrupulously disguised the fact that during his reign, a guard has sexually harassed a teenage girl, but also, ulteriorly, he cleared Nixon of any possible charges, in fear of losing his precious title, privileges and authority.
The hell Allaia has lived through resonated on the Ark as an irrelevant rumor, almost instantly forgotten. The most insignificant gossip, gradually melting within time into a shallow echo of merely assumptions.
Beneath the table, Allaia vaguely intertwined her fingers with Bellamy's, squeezing his hand reassuringly in the wordless support.
"I've wanted to talk to you for some time now, Mr. Blake." Chancellor continued, avoiding looking in Allaia's direction at any cost.
"Before you do, I'd like to say something." Allaia interjected, staring at him daringly. "When you sent us down here, you sent us to die. But miraculously, most of us are still alive. In large part, that is because of him. Because of Bellamy. He's one of us, and he deserves to be pardoned for his crimes just like the rest of us."
Bellamy was gazing at Allaia with pure admiration shimmering in his cast. His eyes never left the side of her face, as if he had been captured in some sort of magical trance, watching her intently as she cautiously chose her next words with the biggest precision and accuracy, trying to prove his rights.
"Miss Kane, I appreciate your point of view, but it's not that simple." Chancellor Jaha admitted.
"It is, if you wanna know who on the Ark wants you dead." Bellamy said.
"Blackmail, huh?" Allaia mumbled quietly with a smirk and Bellamy nudged her playfully.
For a few seconds, Chancellor considered Bellamy's bold statement in silence. Allaia and Bellamy's gazes collided as the hold of their hands was tightening in the tense anticipation for the sentence.
"Bellamy Blake, you're pardoned for your crimes." Jaha announced.
Relief permeating his body at that moment was beyond anything describable. A sigh of absolute happiness and solace escaped Bellamy's lips, extinguishing the flames of anxiety burning inside his mind like a lively wildfire, finally setting his thoughts in absolute peace. With a wide smile, Allaia squeezed his hand comfortingly, silently telling him that it was all over.
