I woke the next morning to a screaming alarm clock. I groaned and hit the snooze button. 8:00, I got up and trudged down the stairs.

"Morning," I said, grabbing a bagel and started eating it.

"Morning, son," father answered, while drinking a cup of coffee.

Today is Monday, so I have American history today, I thought. I took the last bite out of my bagel and ran back upstairs. Our uniform is simple: everything is black except the white shirt, red tie (that I can never wear properly), and the rose on our jackets. Mine is white, since I am a third year (that would be a junior in high school). Pink is first years, blue is second years, and red is fourth years. I go to Frostbite Academy. Sounds welcoming, doesn’t it? I went to the bathroom, combed my hair, brushed my teeth, and then went back downstairs. I looked at the clock. 8:52.

"Got to go, loves!" I yelled, grabbing my bag and running out the door.

I only stood for a brief second when the bus pulled up. I got on and took my seat. Gabbi scooted next to me. Gabbi has been my friend since first grade. We look alike, and because of that some people think we are twins.

“What’s up?" she asked, giving me a big smile. I gave her a smile back.

"Nothing new," I said. She grabbed my chin and made me face her. She looked at me with concern, then anger.

"Did he hit you again? Oh gosh, I am going to ring his neck. Did he hit you anywhere else." she said, ripping my clothes around.

"No, no. No, stop, I feel violated." I said, pushing her arms away. She put her hands down in her lap.

She made a surrendering sigh, "okay. Next time, come to my house. You are always welcome." Gabbi patted my shoulder.

I took my seat next to the window. Gabbi took the seat in the row next to me. She waved at me and I gave her one back. She pointed to her mouth and pointed over her shoulder. I gave her a nod. It’s code for "talk later".

The bell rang and everyone took their seats. Mrs. Hooper started writing on the board. “The Cause of the American Revolution,” it read. I grabbed my necklace and started twirling it between my fingers. It belonged to my mother. It was a small hollow heart with a ribbon wrapped around it. The ribbon said “Beloved Soul”. The teacher was going off about the Tea Act, when a paper ball hits my head. I looked back at who did it. Chad and his friends were snickering. I gave them a snotty look and turned back around. Guess you have to have your enemies in high school.

I was about to start clicking my pen when something came through the window with a loud CRASH! I covered my face from the flying glass. He was busted up. It’s human, I thought. I grabbed my ruler and poked him with it. He groaned and tried to stand. I jumped down to help him.

"Isn’t that a kid at our school?" I heard someone murmur.

He looked up at me and gasped. Huh, I thought. He looked behind him; and then looked back at me. He saw my necklace and got big-eyed.

"You," he said. I gave him a raised eyebrow. He grunted and, before I knew it, he had me by the wrist and dragging me out of the classroom.

"Let go!" I yelled. Nothing.

“I said Let go! Who are you anyways! Hey, are you listening! Hey!" at that, I got slammed into the wall.

His hand then covered my mouth. He gave me a deadly look and I stopped struggling. At that moment I heard a chopper sound from outside. It stayed there for a few seconds then left. He pointed to the heart on my chest.

"Someone told me to find the one with the heart on his chest and you will finally be safe,” he pointed to the heart chain again. Silence came from both of us.

"Hey, looks like Yuki’s got a new boyfriend." Chad snickered at the door. I was about to snap something back, when another window went CRASH! I looked up to see people standing and pointing high tech guns at us.

"That’s him," the front one said. I recognized his voice. I made a sound of disgust.

"Great, it's Pervert." I snapped.

He gave me a growl. Looks like he remembers me too, I thought. They came running at us. Four of them tackled "stranger dude" and two came after me. One went for a punch and I dodged it easily. I pushed him to the ground. The second one was lucky. He hit me with a left hook, grabbed my throat and pinned me to the wall. I heard a familiar scream, Gabbi. I tried to get out. He started lifting me off the ground, and in no time, I was six feet off the ground. More screaming came and I looked over. Everyone in my class was standing at the doorway. Mrs. Hooper was freaked.

"Put him down right now or you'll kill him!" she yelled with her "bossy" voice.

"Good idea," he said and gripped my throat tighter. I coughed and gasped for air. I felt my body go cold. I moved my legs a little, and then I got an idea. I snapped my right leg up and kicked him in the face. He dropped me and gripped his face. I looked at the man. His mask was busted; then he came at me. I ran at him and jumped. Hitting him with a round-the-house kick in the chest and ending with an air-round-house to the head. I landed on my feet and he dropped to the ground. I turned to go help stranger dude (I know, why help him.... well--.... I don’t know either). I ran up the sidewall, (yes it’s possible) and jabbed one in the head. Stranger dude got up.

"Thanks," he said. I looked at him.

"No prob.," I said and took the stance of the Tiger. He threw the first punch, and then they were on us. We went crazy until no one was standing except us. I looked at stranger dude (why do I keep calling him that. I got to get his name).

"That was awesome! You are a little kung-Fu monkey!" he said, rustling my hair. I gave him a shy smile.

"I’m Shino, by the way." he said with a thumb up. This guy is crazy.........cool, I smiled. He reached his hand out. I took it.

"I’m Yu-"I was cut off by Mrs. Hooper pouncing on me.

“Help! Teacher gone crazy! I repeat! Teacher...gone...crazy!" I yelled.

"Yuki, are you okay. Anything broken," she yelled. I shook my head. She relaxed and let me get up. "Good. You know fighting is against the rules! What were you thinking!" she went from worried to psycho. I think she’s bipolar. I started walking away.

"Yuki! Are you even listening! Yuki!" got to love adults, I thought. I walked up to Shino.

"Yuki. My name is Yuki." He gave me a smile. I walked over to the now freaked out Gabbi. I gave her a hug.

"I’m okay. You don’t worry. Okay." I broke it down for the poor girl. She was in deep shock. I looked at Chad; he flinched a little. Guess you'll think twice about the little dude now aren’t you, I thought. I felt a hand turning me around.

"Explain, Mr. Crest," Mrs. Hooper said.

I was about to tell her that I don’t know what happened, when Shino interrupted.

"I'll tell you what happened. Yuki just save my hide from death," he said. I giggled, he said hide. He looked at my class that is, still, stunned.

"We got to get going,” he whispered in my ear. I looked at him.

"What?" I said.

He smiled. "I'll explain later." he looked at my class.

"Sorry, but I will be borrowing him again," he said pulling me down the hall.

"I'm not an object!" I yelled as we turned the corner and out the door.
