Romeo

"Romeo! Romeo! Come back here!" I heard as I ran out the door. I have to get out of here, have to get out. I ran and watched the trees flash by me. My name is Romeo, and I was, the heir to the vampire mafia: the Montez’s. I didn’t want to cry but they came. Each tear stung my eyes as they fell. Keep running, I thought. See, it was my turn to move up in the ranks. I was supposed to become a prince and take my place next to my father. The catch is, I had to do something I could never do in all my eighteen years: kill someone. I wanted them to know that I belong here. I pointed one of my revolvers at the man. I wanted to be accepted, but when I saw the look into his eyes. All the terror, the fear... I broke down.

"I can’t," I said, putting the gun back in its case. I felt my father’s hands on my shoulders.

"Sure you can son. It’s just one little pull of the trigger," he said, making a popping sound. I moved away from them.

"No-no I-I can’t. I just-. No, I can’t. I won’t. I-"

I freaked. I ran out the door and into the woods. I had to get to that place. The place where I know it's warm, and welcoming. That place where I met...him. I came upon the river and sunk to my knees. I wiped my eyes; He hates me. Father hates me, but I just couldn’t do it. Another tear went down my cheek and I gripped my knees. It was two months ago...

I sat by the river, throwing rocks into it. I just lost my only brother in a drive by. He was so young. The funeral was today. I left after the ceremony. I didn't want to stay any longer.

"Dez," I whispered his name, wondering if he'll hear me. I started tossing rocks into the water. It's what we use to do. We would just sit here and skip rocks and talk about old times. Now we'll never do that again. I took a deep breath. I was about to leave, when I heard the sweetest voice ever.

"Hey, are you okay?" I looked up to see the most gorgeous smile. It shined off the sun’s light. His hair is black, covering his copper-gold eyes. He held out his hand and I took it. Wow, what small hands, I thought looking at him. He gave me another smile.

"Hi, I’m Yuki." he said. I stared at him blankly. He gave me this look and I began to blush.

"Oh, my name is Romeo. Nice to meet you."

He gave me a blank stare, and then laughed.

"Come. You must be hungry,” he said, pulling my hand. I moved away.

"Um… that’s okay. I already ate and I-" I was interrupted by this weird growling sound. I gave an embarrassing laugh. He gave me the 'I thought so' look. He grabbed my hand again.

"Your stomach told on you. Come with me." I didn’t reject this time.

I was caught; just go with it. It wasn't long before we came upon a large building. We walked in and I stared amazed.

"This is your lunch room?" I asked. He nodded.

"It’s big, I know." We walked up to the bar, a lady was there waving.

"Hello, Yuki. How are you?" she asked. He gave her a smile.

"Good, Mrs. Helen. How are you?" he said. She laughed.

"I am good. Who’s your friend?" she asked, giving me a look. Does this boy have any enemies? I felt an arm around my shoulders.

"This is Romeo." I gave a shy smile.

It wasn't too long before we took our seats. People waved hi to him, and he waved back. I looked up and saw mustard on the corner of his lips. I grabbed my napkin and wiped it off for him. He looked at me startled, then turned red. We sat in awkward silence, and then a paper ball hit Yuki in the shoulder. His smile faded and he turned to the owner.

"Hey Yuki, I see your still picking up strays,” he laughed. I saw Yuki’s fist ball up, then release.

"And I see that you are still an idiot. Looks like things never change. Will it Chad?" he shot back. I looked up shocked; he has a dark side, cool. Yuki sat back down and gave me a smile, we both laughed like never before.

I wiped away the remaining tears and stood up. I wonder how he’s doing, I thought. I skipped one more rock and took off running.

"I’ll just go see him," I said to myself. It didn’t take long to get to the school. I ran into the building and up to the lunch ladies.

"Hey, how’s it going? Have you seen-" I was cut off by a gasp from one of the ladies.

"Helen, what’s wrong. Are you okay?" she had this look of horror and sadness on her face.

"Please, please tell me you saw him. I’m really worried?" she begged. I was confused.

"What do you mean? What’s going on?" I asked. Okay, now I’m freaked, Helen looked at me with tears in her eyes.

"It’s Yuki, he’s been missing for two months now. I'm so scared for him. He’s such a good boy; you know he is. He helped you... and now he’s-he’s-" Another lady grabbed her and took her into the back. I felt my knees buckle, and I fell to the ground.

"No, no. He can’t. Why would someone-" I stuttered. I knew my tears were coming back, but never felt them hit my check. I was crying not on the outside but on the inside. I was in too much shock. I just sat there looking like a statue. My mind was going crazy.

"Why would someone take Yuki?" I whispered. Just then, a hand went on my shoulder. I turned to see men in armed suits.

"What is S.W.A.T. doing here," I mumbled to myself. I stood.

"You are Romeo Montez, right?" he asked. I gave a puzzling look. I had this feeling that I should run but my legs wouldn’t work. I made one step away from them and he snickered.

"Grab him,” the man ordered.

I tried to run but he grabbed my wrist. I tried to pull away, and then a hand went to my throat. I’m going to die here, I thought. I closed my eyes. Out of nowhere, I heard a hissing sound then a scream of pain. I felt the pressure lift from my neck and opened my eyes. His arm was covered in blood, with a star hanging out. A shuriken? I thought. I looked where the star came from. There on the window sill stood someone. I gave him a puzzling look. A bird flew off his shoulder, and he jumped. He was coming my way.

"Romeo!" he screamed.

Not a second to soon, his arm was around my waist and I was up in the air. I looked to see who my kidnaper is and froze at eye contact. Copper-brown eyes, I thought. I gripped him tighter.

"Yuki, you’re alive." I whispered.

He laughed, and we hit the ground. Yuki gave me that sweet, shy smile I love, and I started to blush. Everyone was staring at us. Yuki smiled a devil-like smile.

"Sorry to crash your party boys, but it got boring."

The man gave off a yell, and then pointed straight at Yuki.
