"Shino! Shino, stop! Slow down," I yelled.

When he didn’t stop, I ripped my arm away. He looked back at me.

"What’s wrong? We have to keep moving."

I took a step away from him. I was beyond livid (if you can go beyond). I looked at him with frustration.

"We? There is no 'we' until you explain. You said that you’d explain, so here’s your chance. So, don’t you think about 'we' until I know what I’m getting myself-" just then, a hand covered my mouth. I kept talking, but my words were muffled.

"Hold on Yuki, calm down."

I recognized the voice and calmed down. Sayu removed her hand. I turned and looked at her.

"How do you do that," Shino complained, Sayu wiggled her fingers in a spooky way.

"I can control minds and make people my human zombies,” she chanted. Shino rolled his eyes. I let out a snicker. I looked at her. She was still in the same clothes I saw her in. Sayu gave me a wink and I looked away. To break the silence, a figure jumped out of the trees, and I nearly jumped out of my skin.

"Who’s the jumpy-shrimp?" she challenged. I gave her a dirty look and stuck my tongue out at her.

"Mei. This is Yuki, your prince charming." Shino teased. Mei looked from me to him.

"He’s short,” she said. I felt my body boil.

Sayu grabbed my shoulders, good thing to because I was going to kill Mei.

"Sorry Yuki, this is my little sister, Mei. She was expecting, you know, her 'dream boy': tall, muscular, blonde hair, green eyes, coming up on a white stallion to sweep her off her feet and take her away.”

Shino sung as he danced around Mei.

"Not true," she yelled as she punched him in the chest. They laughed though. Family love, I thought. I cleared my throat and gave Shino a look. He stood up.

"Oh yeah, got to explain, " he said. I sat down. He took a deep breath. "Okay, have you heard of sector 8?" he began. I sneaked Sayu a look.

"Yeah, kind of."

Shino looked at Sayu with a questioned look.

"O-Kay. Do you know why they want us?" I shook my head. He looked at Sayu. I raised an eyebrow. Sayu squeezed my face and made me look at her in the eyes. "Will you believe what I’m going to tell you? Every single word?" She looked serious. I gave her a nod (since I couldn’t talk). “We’re not like everyone else. We have these… powers. Super abilities, you could say. Like Mei, she’s a witch," she pointed at Mei. Mei grunted.

"Always leave out the 'good' every time you use me as an example." she complained. A good witch, huh, that’s hard to believe, I thought. "I can create anything I want. I would tell you how I do it, but I’m not going to go all science on you. I also have the eye sight of a hawk." Shino announced.

I was about to as about the glasses, but he cut me off.

"Under cover," he clicked at me. I looked at Sayu.

"And you are?" I asked.

"I’m an elven." I gave her a funny look.

"You make toys?" I got this look from everyone before they burst into laughter. I gave them a dirty look.

"What’s so funny?" I demanded. Sayu wiped away a tear.

"Not elf, elven. Think: nature, not North Pole." she patted my head like I was a child. I stuck my tongue out at her.

We sat for a few minutes when we heard a rustling sound; I shot up with the others. Sayu pulled a dagger. Mei gripped her ring and it turned into a staff. Shino raised his bow. I brought my hands up. A wolf, the size of a full-grown bull, came out and everyone went calm, except me. I did the most childish thing... I ran and hid behind a tree.

"What is that thing?” I yelled. It gave me a dirty look (if it could).

"Hurtful," it said. I hid behind the tree again. It talks, I thought. Laughter was coming from behind me.

"What’s so funny this time," I pouted. Mei held her chest.

"Don’t be scared, it’s just Ember."

At that moment, the wolf started forming. I freaked and hid behind my tree. When I looked back, the wolf was human. He gave me a devilish smile. I gave him a shy smile. He laughed (sounds like a howl).

"I like this kid. Are we keeping him?" Ember pleaded. I threw him a dirty look.

“I’m not a pet.” I crossed my arms and leaned against my tree.

"Of course you are not. Embers just playing," a little voice said. I jumped. She gave me a sweet smile. "Hi, I’m Sugar. I can read minds." I gave a blank stare.

"This ball of fur here is Hero. He can talk." I started to rub my temples.

"Any more surprises?" I asked.

Sugar put her finger to her chin. Shino and Mei looked at the sky. Sayu looked at her feet. Ember, he winked at me (creepy right?). Someone snapped their fingers.

"Well, since your part of the group, sector 8 will be after you too." I stopped in my tracks.

"What! But I don’t have any super powers. What would they want with me?.... Wait, when did I become part of the group?" I fret. Ember grabbed my shoulders.

"Yup, we're keeping him." he smirked. I moved away.

"I can take the “I’m-not-human-I’m-supernatural” thing, but being chased as well. What do they use? Guns that explode you from the inside or something that melts your body to goo, or-or-or…" A hand went over my mouth.

"What happened to the fearless man that saved my ass?" Shino teased. I moved his hand, giving him a dirty look.

"To tell the truth, I only did that because they could have killed you if I didn’t." I defended. "I’m against violence," I pouted and crossed my arms. Sugar looked at me.

"Why?" she asked in her sweet voice. I stiffened.

"My own reasons." I relaxed and looked away. Everyone was silent. Ember stood up and embraced me.

"You idiot! What are you doing? Put me down!" I yelled. He started spinning me around.

"Awe. He’s so cute! That face he made was so natural! Ha-ha-ha!" Ember yelled.

I felt my skin burning. Everything was going black. I grabbed his wrist and threw him over my shoulders. He landed on his back with a big OOMPH. I snapped back and brought my hand to my head. What happened, I thought. They all were looking at me. I looked around.

"Ember!" I yelled and ran to him. "I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to. It’s a reaction, a defense technique. I’m sorry." I babbled. A finger came to my lips, and I shut up.

"You’re so caring. I’m fine, you just took me by surprise." He gave me a smile. I let out a little laugh.

"Yuki, Yuki! You’re strong!" Sugar clapped. I gave her a smile.

"Thank you. I guess."

Yet again, I was embraced in the arms of Ember. He started screaming stuff in a different language. He swung me around like I was his teddy bear (I feel bad for his teddy bear). Another voice yelled in the same language and he put me down. I gave a breath of relief. Sayu, you’re my new hero. I heard a giggle behind me. I turned and saw Sugar. She gave a wink and kept laughing. I looked down. I forgot, she could read minds.
