Clint's POV

I sit in the waiting room for I don't know how many hours.

Days could have passed and I wouldn't have noticed.

I feel my phone buzzing, but I don't pick it up. I know my friends are probably worried, but I don't know if I can pull my phone out and answer it without breaking down.

I have to stay strong.

For Pietro.

I feel myself start to nod off, and I stand up abruptly, and go in search for coffee, even if it's terrible. I'm not falling asleep.

"Mr. Barton?" The receptionist calls. I turn around and race over to the desk, my feet sliding on the polished linoleum.

"Is he okay? Can I see him? Is he awake?" I demand.

The woman just sighs, and motions for me to follow her.

She leads me down the hallway, to the elevator.

"He's in room 239. On your left." I thank her, before pressing the elevator button, and tapping my foot nervously.

He's okay, Pietro's okay.

I bit my lip to hid my small smile. He's okay.

The elevator opens and I step inside, pressing the second button.

Finally, I reach the second floor and I race out, avoiding nurses and doctors walking in between rooms.

Room 237, room 238, there!

I stand in front of room 239, and let out a breath, before pushing open the door.

Pietro's POV

Everything hurts.

My arm hurts, it hurts when I breath, my leg hurts.

I broke my arm, and fractured my knee. I have two broken ribs, and three bruised ones. Luckily, my face didn't get hurt, other than a bruise from when I fell after the car slammed into me.

I hear the doorknob turn and I look in front of me.

Clint walks in and gasps, before pulling a chair over to the side of the bed.

"You're okay." He breathes, like he didn't believe it.

I reach with my good hand and grab Clint's, and squeeze it reassuringly.

"I'm okay."

"You could have died, Pietro, you could have died!" Clint says, his voice breaking.

I grip his hand tighter.

"Don't scare me like that ever again, Pietro." Clint tell me, tears falling down his face.

"I won't." I reassure him, smiling softly.

"Pietro, I don't-" Clint stops for a moment.

"What is it, Clint?"

"I don't think I can live without you." Clint answers quickly.

"Well, that's good, because I'm never leaving you." I answer. Clint lets out a breath, and smiles up at me, truly smiles.

And my breath hitches. Like it does whenever Clint smiles for real.

Because it's just so beautiful and in that moment it hits me.

I love him.

I love him more than anything.
