Josie's POV
I was walking with Lizzie to get breakfast when our dad stopped us in the hallway.
"Are you guys busy? Doesn't matter, 'cause now you are," he said with a grin.
Lizzie and I exchanged glances and giggled, following him down the corridor.
"We have a new student joining us, and she's pretty important," Dad continued.
"How important are we talking?" Lizzie asked, her curiosity piqued.
"How does tribrid sound?"
Lizzie shot me a look of pure annoyance. Our dad had been talking about this tribrid for as long as I could remember. Honestly, I was kind of excited to meet her, but I'd never let Lizzie know that. She already thought this girl was here to steal our dad's attention.
"Just promise me you'll behave yourself while giving Hope the tour?" Dad said, his voice serious as he looked at Lizzie.
"It has a name," Lizzie muttered under her breath, glancing back at me.
"Yes, of course, Dad. I will give Hope the tour of her life," Lizzie added, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Dad didn't seem to catch it. He just smiled and walked off, leaving us at the front of the school to wait for our new guest to arrive.
Lizzie's POV
1 hour later
It was bad enough that this girl already had my dad wrapped around her finger, but now she had us waiting out here all morning. Plus, we still hadn't had breakfast, which made everything worse.
Just as I was about to head back inside, a black Jeep pulled up. Out stepped THE Hope Mikaelson.
I definitely wasn't expecting her to be that hot.
Well, this should be fun, I thought to myself as I walked toward the car, ready to make my move. I wasn't about to let her charm everyone without me giving it a shot first.
"Hi, I'm Lizzie. Effortlessly beautiful and ready to mingle," I said, flashing her my signature smirk.
But Hope barely glanced at me. Instead, her eyes drifted right past me—straight to Josie, who had been standing quietly the entire time.
What the hell? I thought, my irritation growing. I mean, why would she focus on Josie when I was right here?
Hope extended her hand toward Josie, who seemed frozen in place, taking forever to respond.
"Hope. Hope Mikaelson," Hope said, her voice smooth and confident. "And you are...?" she asked, holding Josie's gaze.
Josie, flustered, finally took her hand. "J-Josie," she stammered, looking away shyly.
"Josie," Hope repeated softly, as if testing the name on her lips. It was just loud enough for me to hear, though, and I had to physically stop myself from gagging.
I watched them—watched them—as their eyes lingered on each other, and I could feel the annoyance boiling up inside me. There was no way Hope could like Josie over me. Right?
Right?
I cleared my throat, trying to break the tension and hide how pissed off I was. "This should be fun," I muttered to myself, though it felt a lot less fun than it did a few minutes ago.
