Josie's POV
Hope and I were locked in a heated make-out session when a sudden burning sensation shot through my hip, making me jump back. I looked at her, concern etched on her face, as she inhaled sharply. Instinctively, I lifted my shirt to reveal a tattoo of a white wolf—one that I immediately recognized as Hope.
Hope, too, lifted her shirt, revealing a tattoo of a black wolf. The moment she saw my mark, her wolfish eyes lit up, and I could hear her low growl rumbling in her chest.
Hope's POV
Seeing Josie's mark made my wolf stir inside me, a primal reaction I hadn't fully grasped until Josie called my name, snapping me back to reality.
"I think I'm going to call my Aunt Freya for help," I told her, trying to mask the unease creeping in.
She sat up suddenly, worry flashing across her face. In that moment, I understood—she was nervous about meeting my family. Honestly, I found it endearing.
"Baby, it's going to be okay. I promise she'll love you," I reassured her.
"You think so?" Her voice was soft and hesitant, reminiscent of the first time we met when she was unsure of herself.
"I know so, my love." I smiled as her face transformed into a radiant grin at the nickname. I pulled her into a hug, kissing the top of her head, feeling a swell of affection.
After a moment, I called Aunt Freya through astral projection.
"Hi, Aunt Freya!" I chirped, my excitement bubbling over.
"Hello, darling! And who is this beautiful lady?" she asked.
I turned to Josie and then back to Freya, saying, "This is my wonderful girlfriend, Jossete."
"Hello! You can just call me Josie," she replied, her shyness fading as she warmed to the conversation.
"Well, hello, Josie! Hope, my niece, is treating you right?" Freya teased.
"Hey, hey, hey! Can we get back on topic, please?" I interjected, trying to steer the conversation back.
"Of course! So, what's going on, Hope?"
"A tattoo just appeared on both of us," I explained, my heart racing.
Freya's expression shifted to one of concern. "What do they look like?"
We both revealed our tattoos, tension building as we awaited her reaction.
Josie's POV
As we delved deeper into the conversation, I felt myself relax, especially seeing how much Freya cared for Hope. It made me like her even more. Freya, however, didn't have immediate answers and promised to do more research before we wrapped up the call.
"So, what do you want to do?" I asked, trying to shift the focus back to us.
"Um, do you want to tell your dad about the whole wolf tattoo thing?" Hope asked tentatively.
I realized then that we hadn't considered the implications of telling my dad. "How about we wait to see what Aunt Freya has to say before we tell him?" I suggested.
Hope contemplated this, then nodded in agreement.
We decided to head to the cafeteria. As we approached a back table, Lizzie's voice rang out, calling for me to sit with her. I hesitated, not wanting to join her, but Hope insisted, saying something about needing "sister time."
While sitting and listening to Lizzie talk about herself, I felt Hope's presence beside me. But before long, she came over, asking if I was ready to go.
