36 - Apology

Y/N flipped the first page of the book.

Dear Diary

Mommy gave me this diary! I can't wait to use it! Oh! My name is Nanae Kyodo! 10 years old! I live in Japan and I am good at school!

Dad gave me my favorite breakfast today! It was soooooo yummy! I wish I could eat it all the time.

Giggling a little from the words, Y/N wondered why Nanae changed into a bad person. In the diary, she was so enthusiastic and carefree. She flipped another page skipping it to her latest.

Dear Diary

I haven't used this for 6  years, eh? I only wrote 11 times here or something.

Many things happened. I never knew that all of these would happen to me.

6 years ago, when my birthday ended a week ago. I realized...my father wasn't coming back home all the time. When I ask my mother, she told me that he was busy and he was late.

I believed her and now, I knew my father and my mother left me. They abandoned me. Hearing it makes me upset and betrayed. They also divorced and found their new loved ones.

I was left alone with my aunt who despises me. She hates me, treated like Cinderella, as a slave. As much as I don't want to live with her. I had no choice but to stay to achieve my dreams...

After a few years ago when I finished middle school, my aunt and my uncle told me that I was a mistake.

They don't want me, they abandoned me just like my parents. No one cared for me...I managed to get help from my relatives and I started high school.

I had friends. They liked me. Not anymore. They replaced me with someone else who was cooler than me.

I found love, yet...I was heartbroken when he chose someone else.

I'm always betrayed by everyone. What's the point of my life if everyone rejects me?

I tried reaching out for my family, no one reached back. I tried making friends again, they think I'm weird. I tried falling in love again, I was rejected.

I'm nothing but a mistake.

Y/N felt tears coming out from her eyes as she closed the book, putting it back to where it belongs.

"Are you crying?" Anna asked her, who was staring at her the whole time. She approached her to see that she was looking at Nanae's diary. She sighed.

"You know, you shouldn't look at anyone's stuff. That's kind of a bit...disrespectful?" Anna said trying to find the right word from the last sentence.

"At least I got a bit of information from her past...didn't know she was like that..." Y/N mumbled, wiping her tears away as she fixed herself to get ready to leave.

As Y/N and Anna about to leave, a hand pulled Y/N and a knife was placed on her neck.

"Y-Y/N...!" Anna said, traumatized to see a murderous scene. Her hands started to tremble as she failed to get her walkie-talkie from her pockets.

Nanae stood there, holding Y/N tightly and her other hand with a knife. She hasn't hurt Y/N yet, but her eyes were wild and filled with rage.

"Sneaking in at my house? How brave! I knew something was going on..." Nanae giggled. "Stealing? and reading my diary?" She said.

"Nanae, don't do this!" Y/N said trying to wrestle from her grasp. "This isn't the real you!" She said.

Nanae started laughing. "Real me? How can you say? You know nothing about me...!" She said.

"Nanae...all you wanted was to be loved...right?"

She heard the knife dropped on the ground. Nanae's grip loosened after what she said.

Anna looked shocked to see Nanae started crying and shaking.

Y/N must've read something in her diary...Anna thought as she watched Y/N turn around and hugged Nanae.

"All I wanted is to be loved...just once. No one ever said 'I love you' truthfully to me...all of them just betrayed me..." Nanae said as she buried her head on Y/N's shoulder, crying as much as she can.

"My psychotic side took over...I let my reputation be ruined by being a bully. I wanted to join a group...but they dared me to steal the new bad boy's heart and ruin someone's reputation." Nanae hesitated.

"I'm jealous of you Y/N." Y/N widen her eyes after hearing what she said. "I'm jealous that you had a loving family, friends...and even boys taken a liking from you." She said. "I wanted to be like you! I hate it when I feel this! I wanted to be friends with you!" She continued crying.

Everyone soon came in and saw the scene. Akari started asking Anna and Anna explained everything to them. They all felt bad for Nanae, yet still mad at what she did.

Akari hugged Nanae as well. "Nanae, if you wanted to be friends with Y/N, you could've just asked, we will treat you like one of us!" Akari said.

Hachiro sighed and approached them, patting Nanae's head. (which made Y/N a bit jealous.).

"I'm sorry...to you, Anna, Hachiro, Akari, and to all of you..." Nanae said calming down.

"Does Himari and Ichika... know this as well?" Akari asked. Nanae shook her head. "No...they just liked hanging out with me I guess...tho I feel like I was just an ally to them...I don't think they treated me as a friend." She said.

"Oh, you poor thing!" Anna started crying and tackled Nanae a hug.

Everyone did a group hug including Nanae, who felt happy for the first time.

"Y/N!" Y/N turned around to see her new friend, Nanae tackling her to a hug. Y/N giggled at her as she hugged back, greeting her.

Students looked at them weirdly and whispered. Hachiro gave all of them a death glare and everyone started to stop talking.

"Hello to you too Nanae, I'm here you know?" Anna asked pouting. Nanae let go of her embrace to Y/N and hugged Anna as well.

"I'm glad you three are getting along!" Akari said smirking at them, her hand intertwined with Leo's.

Oh yeah, Akari and Leo were dating ever since the Christmas Ball ended.

Himari and Ichika approached them with a glare. Himari pulled Nanae to her and gave her a more intense glare that didn't bother Nanae.

"The hell are you doing with these pesky rats?" Himari asked. "And you look so cheerful...the hell happened to you?" She asked gripping Nanae's arm that hurts.

"I don't want to hang out with the actual pesky rats," Nanae said, basically pointing at the two of them who gasped. "These people are the nicest people I ever met, unlike you two," Nanae smirked and left with her friends while the two stared at her with shock.

Himari gritted her teeth and stomped away, leaving Ichika behind.
