The elevator wasn't moving fucking fast enough and Jaime's skin was beginning to crawl. What if Yua's family was still out sightseeing? What if they'd left and not even popped into her office to tell her she was alone? She could be alone and scared or worse.

Stop! She's fine. You'll get off the elevator, the slow assed, son of a whore elevator, and she'll be in her office. She probably doesn't even realize what's going on around her. Jaime snorted at how easily Yua could get carried away with her research, not being very aware of her surroundings. Then, the thought scared her and her anxiety was attacking in full force once again. Yua needed to be more aware. She needed to pay closer attention to--

The elevator dinged and the doors began to open too goddamned slowly, but Jaime froze inside upon seeing outside into the hallway. Yua was rigorously running toward her in terror, tears in her eyes. Mrs. Watanabe came from inside of her loft, yelling something in Japanese after her, but Yua bolted forward with wide eyes.

She lunged into the elevator and slammed the button to close the door. When she looked back up again, actively trying to catch her breath, she jolted. She was holding onto Jaime's forearms, something of which Jaime was very, very aware. Yua's hold was tight, as if she needed something to ground her in the moment. She lifted her gaze to Jaime and became rigid, then pushed away.

"S-Sorry..." She stammered as she bashfully wiped her cheeks dry.

"It's fine, Yua." As soon as Jaime said her name she watched Yua shiver and look away. "Are you alright?"

"Fine." Yua wouldn't look her in the eyes and Jaime stepped closer. Yua stared down at Jaime's still scuffed boots and scoffed. "You, um... You never fixed your boots. Why don't we go out and get you some wax?"

"I have plenty."

"Then, what if we looked at some new boots?"

"Don't need them."

"Perhaps some new insoles?"

"Yua, please, look at me."

She still stared down at Jaime's boots and Jaime felt the need to make the first move. A move that definitely surprised Yua by the look on her face. Jaime took a step back, then another. She rested against the opposite wall and snorted when Yua stared at her in what she could only figure was a mixture of disbelief and disappointment.

This may not have been a favorable first move, but if Yua was going to do a thing like the night prior, Jaime wanted her to come after her. She wanted to be chased, for once. If her inclinations were anything of what she believed them to be, Yua would take the bait.

Yet, she didn't.

Yua turned around and stared at the doors straight ahead. Her breath sped up like an echo throughout the elevator and Jaime fussed at herself for not just doing what her heart wanted. Enough of this pussy footing around. She told herself with a nod. It was time for results. Real, stellar results like those of last night's.

Jaime stepped forward until her front was nearly touching Yua's back and saw a shudder run through her body. She felt it, too. The need to touch. The desire to show their connection was something real and it was in her as well. Just as Yua had last night, she would feel her again this afternoon.

Jaime reached out and pressed the emergency stop button, then waited for the elevator to ease to rest.

"Jaime..."

"What?" She asked as she inched closer to Yua, taking in her scent. She was safe. In one piece. That bastard was nowhere to be seen. Jaime wouldn't be letting him anywhere near Yua and the only way to do that was to have her protected. "After lunch, I'm getting a protective detail to stay close to you."
