This was not how Yua planned for her day to go. She was expecting to be finished with her last appointment by now, then planned to meet Jaime at Dexy's for dinner and a nice walk during sunset afterward. It was something phenomenal that Yua never thought she'd be doing. She was going on a date. What amazed her more was that she'd requested it. The feelings burgeoning within herself gave her a brighter glow each hour of the day that grew closer toward the evening. Yet now, it may all have been ruined.
Yua sat at her desk, keeping a barrier between herself and her impromptu patient, and wondered just where the police officers who were meant to keep an eye on her building had disappeared. If they perceived a threat, they would have been there by now. Not to mention the flyers posted outside the building holding his mugshot. So, how exactly had Ryan managed to slip past them and the doorman on the ground floor? She paid extra for security, she was meant to be protected by those sent by Jaime, so how had this happened?
"Are you listening, Doctor Watanabe?" Yua swallowed against the sharp, glass-like lump in her throat and nodded, feeling her skin prickle. "Good. I've missed our sessions. It's been...hard."
"Ha..." Her voice came out raspier than expected and she cleared her throat before speaking again. "H-Hard...?"
"Yes," Ryan stood and every hair on the back of Yua's neck shot up at attention. "You see, with my wife gone, my children aren't doing well. Then, this ridiculous manhunt started and I can't even go and check on them." He approached her desk and leaned over it, bracing his hands on top. "That's where you come in, Doctor Yua. I think you should do something for me."
"What...can I do?" Yua darted her eyes toward the door and fought not to jump to her feet and run to it. Jaime would be home soon. All she needed to do was get up, run to the door and get across to her apartment before--
"I wouldn't if I were you." Ryan moved around the desk, positioning himself so that he blocked her only exit. "Let's talk."
"Talk?" She squeaked.
"Yes." Ryan walked to her and knelt down, then began to play with the hem of her skirt. It took all her might not to run, find cover, or call for help. She could use those defenses Jaime so keenly taught her, but she had to wait for the right opportunity or who knew what he may attempt. "Your guard dog isn't here. I waited outside long enough to make sure of that. Tell me, when I was telling you all those things before about my wife turning into a lezzie, did you run back to her and spread your legs while you both laughed at me?"
"I...I haven't spoken to her about you...at all. I wouldn't...!"
"You're a terrible liar, Doctor Watanabe. How else could they know my name without you identifying me in the first place?" He pushed one finger up into her skirt and Yua flinched back, tumultuous fire threatening to burn her to hell and back. "If you hadn't told your guard dyke about me, no one would be after me now. So..." Ryan lifted his gaze and daringly stared her in the eyes. "Did you laugh at me while you let the bitch go down on you?"
"I... I..."
"You what, whore?"
That was it. Yua pushed against him and struggled to stand, but he shoved her back down to the chair, causing it to tip back. She was sent plummeting to the floor, arms flailing, and the wind was knocked from her lungs. As she rolled out of the chair, she felt Ryan's weight on top of her and turned herself over, swiping out to get him away only to be struck across the face. Whatever Jaime's self-defense classes may have been meant to teach her, they hadn't accounted for just how badly being struck in the face truly hurt. She'd been hurt elsewhere in the past, but never something like this. Memories of her childhood flooded her mind and her skin felt like it may cause the carpet beneath her to catch fire.
