"Stop doing that." Yua told Jaime as she kept straightening her collar to try and hide the copious amounts of hickies Yua left on her neck.

"They're gonna think I'm some sex crazed--"

"Aren't you?" The directness in everything Yua said now still surprised Jaime, but she would never be able to get enough of it.

"Touché, Doc." Jaime spotted Kevin and Carrie descending on them with Lily on Kevin's shoulders. She was giggling at something Carrie said to her, but what really stood out was that Kevin held Carrie's hand. "Huh?"

Yua turned around and saw them, then sent a knowing look back at Jaime. "You cannot tell me you didn't see this coming. She is bisexual and they have quite interesting chemistry."

"Speaking of chemistry..."

"You really are insatiable." Yua lifted onto her toes and kissed her. "I love it, though."

Jaime smiled at the ease with which Yua took their relationship being public and began to wonder why she had ever worried in the first place. With the captain on her side, her job was safe and with Yua along with her every step of the way, her dreams were made true. That wasn't to say they weren't up for a doozy with the heat so high in Portland toward the LGBT community, but if Jaime had her people, she believed for once in her life she could make it to the next day, week, month, year and many more in one piece.

Take it one day at a time and don't fuck the toaster, Schmidt.

Now that she was out of the closet, that suffocating space that she was terrified to spend her life within, she held the world in the palm of her hand and made a promise not to give up. Never again. She would help when she could and be there for those she cared for when she could, including her brothers and sisters having a hell of a time.

One day at a time.

"One more." Jaime said and Yua smirked as she kissed her cheek, making her whine.

"More when we get home. PG out here, handsome."

"Yes, ma'am."

Carrie walked up and gave Jaime's arm a light punch. "Nice solve, Schmidt. Been a minute."

"Hey, Care. Nice catch." She wriggled her eyebrows and Carrie blushed.

"You know it. Good things don't stay on the damn shelf for long and he is..." Carrie glanced Kevin up and down with hungry eyes.

"Ew... No more." Jaime gave Yua her cane, then reached for Lily and put her on her own shoulders. "Hey, kid. Long time, no see."

"Jus' saw yester, auntie!" She squealed as Jaime tickled her. Jaime peeked over at Yua and saw her just staring at them. She shook her head as if coming down from somewhere high and went back to greeting Kevin. "She so pretty."

"Yeah, she is, Lily." She watched as Yua shook Kevin's hand and hugged Carrie. She was stunning, completely coming out of her shell. Jaime felt starstruck and squirmed when Lily covered her eyes. "I wanna see!"

"No! Play!"

"Okay..."

Jaime limped to Yua, took back her cane and gave her a quick kiss on her forehead. She then slowly walked toward the other kids, her cane in her free hand as she held Lily securely on her shoulders with her other. She played with them for what felt like hours, finding out that apparently her cane was now a toy. Kids really could make toys out of anything. By the time she took her seat next to Yua, graciously accepting a beer, she sighed in complete exhaustion. Jaime tossed her cane away and peered over the rim of the can at Yua.
