Chapter 2
Caleb had left the photo shoot early so it was just me and Fernando for the next half hour or so.
After we finally wrapped up the shoot, I thanked Fernando in my fake voice and sent a reply to the text Cody had sent me earlier.
Hi Cody :) Just finished for the day! I'm walking to the dressing room as I text so I should be done in less than ten minutes. Should I wait for you downstairs? - Riley
I dressed myself in a white summer dress with a lace trim and rounded neckline. Accessorised with silver heeled sandals and a matching designer handbag, I bounded down the stairs to find a white limousine waiting for me.
I could feel my inner girl squeal in delight as Cody, in a baby blue collared shirt and white trousers, stepped out of the vehicle and smiled adoringly at me.
"You look beautiful," he complimented as he linked his arm with mine and led me into the limo.
I blushed and gave my hair a quick fix. I had left it and my makeup as it was. It had seemed a shame to not use the great work done on my hair and face to my advantage.
I leaned back into the plush cherry red interior of the limo, closing my eyes and relaxing for the first time in what had felt like forever.
I had gotten up early today to go to a sound check for my concert next week. I then went to an album signing at a packed CD store. After that, I was off to a 3 hour long dance practice, perfecting moves for my next Broadway debut. Finally finishing my day with an interview and photo shoot with TeenLife Magazine.
Just another typical day of being Riley Grant.
I purred as Cody pulled me into his muscled chest. The familiar smell of clean linen and expensive aftershave wafted into my nose, delighting my hyperaware senses.
He was one of the only people who knew how hard I worked every day since he was in the business too.
Cody had grown up in some remote town that I always forgot the name of. He had 5 other siblings that he had always rivalled with for their parents' attention.
From a very young age, he wanted to be noticed and yearned for attention.
So he joined the entertainment industry.
Cody and I clicked so well. We both had the same dreams and ambitions. The fact that we both loved to win and succeed made it only natural that we liked each other so much.
"Coffee?" He whispered into my ear, his mouth gently massaging my earlobe.
"I thought you'd never ask," I giggled uncharacteristically as he pulled two steaming lattes from the cup holders on his side of the limo.
Another thing to love about him. He lived off coffee just like I did. It had become our "thing", buying coffee for each other whenever we could.
Also because we weren't allowed to legally drink alcohol yet.
We were literally meant for each other.
We sipped our creamy caffeinated beverages as we talked about each other's day.
"I swear my publicist is trying to make me look like a pansy," Cody groaned, leaning into my bare shoulder. "He tried to get me on board some Girl Scout publicity stunt. Wanting me to be their new 'face' since girls are obsessed with me."
Most people would think that I hated dating Cody, the guy who was constantly sought after by crazed fans and admired by every teenage girl with eyes.
