[Ryder's POV]
I just continue to smile as I drive, the silence in the car feels comfortable instead of awkward and deafening. I slowly pull into the drive way, seems like everyone is home. "We're back" I say, which snaps Aaden out of a daze that he's in. He'a been staring out the window the whole drive with a smile on his face. I guess I got him in that good of a mood. I get out of the car to open his door but he does it on his own before I get a chance. "Oh, wasn't expecting that." I laugh slightly. He laughs right along with me, "I totally didn't think about it, I'm sorry." He says in a very peppy tone. I see that his mood has went up a lot. Aaden doesn't even wait for me as he walks up to the house. He stops at the door and waits for me so I can unlock it. I walk up behind him and shift through my keys to find the right one. "Excuse me sir" I say as I move slightly around him. I open the door and Aaden goes in without hesitation.
I walk in to see my mom on the couch. When she sees Aaden her face completely lights up. Aaden has quite a good presence. "Oh my god Aaden!" she exclaims as she quickly gets up to hug him. She wraps him in a tight bear hug and he smiles. "Honey! I was so worried about you! Are you okay? How are you feeling?" She says and she steps back to examine him quickly. Aaden politely breaks away from the hug. "I'm doing better than ever today actually, thank you for helping Ryder with me yesterday. I'm so sorry for worrying you." He says quietly. My mom shakes her head and goes back to hug him. "It's fine! Trust me! You don't have to apologize, I'm just happy you're okay now!" She says, it almost looks like there's tears coming to her eyes. I clear my throat, "Mom don't cry please, everything is all good now, nothing else can go wrong" I say with a worried look on my face. She shakes her head and lets out a small laugh. She releases her hold on Aaden and goes back to watching TV on the couch. "May we go now?" I say and Aaden nods his head. We make our way upstairs into my room and Aaden takes off his shoes and flops back down on my bed.
"Going to sign up at school wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm glad it was quiet" he says while fiddling around on his phone. "I told you" I say as I slide off my shoes and sit next to him, "This is why you should listen to me often-"
Before I can finish I hear a sharp screams coming from outside. My room is in the back of the house and nothing ever really goes on back there. Did someone hurt themselves? I didn't even get a chance to react to the screams before the house alarm goes on. Aaden jolts up into a sitting position and quickly looks around in fear.
Woah... we haven't heard that alarm in years. It only goes off when the house feels extremely threatened... My brother mind-links me, "We being attacked" he says quickly before he disconnects. I sit and stare for a bit before it clicks in my mind. I quickly mind-link every male in the house. "WE'RE BEING ATTACKED!" I force myself to get up off the bed and react. Never thought this would happen, especially when I have someone I care about more than myself with me. I quickly throw on my shoes, "Aaden! Shoes! Now!" I try to calmly yell. But I don't think I sounded as calm as I thought I did because I see tears running down his face as he puts on his shoes. We open the door to exit my room to see the halls filled with people trying to make it downstairs to the safe rooms. Men rushing. Women with babies. And kids following behind their mothers. I feel around behind me to try and grab Aaden's hand but all I grab is air. I quickly look behind me to see Aaden still standing in my door way in awe of all the people. "Come on!" I yell. I don't want to sound mad but he's starting to annoy me. "I can't.." he mouths. I shift through all the people going forward so I can go backwards. I grab his hand and hold onto it tight and pull him behind me. We make it down the stairs and follow the crowd that's heading to the safe rooms. I can't risk Aaden getting hurt. It's not in my life plan to lose my mate. As we pass the back door we hear many screams and yells for help. That makes Aaden squeeze my hand. I can tell he's scared, there's so much going on right now. I gotta move fast. I look around to see one last available room with the group of people flooding into it. I pull Aaden closer to the door. "I'll be back! Don't worry about me!" I yell so I can be heard over all of the sounds of chaos. "I can't..." Aaden says quiet enough to the point that I can't hear but only read his lips. I nod my head and hand him off to one of the older women in the pack to handle. "Please watch him" I say while doing pleading (🙏🏻) hands. She nods her head and smiles
before I see the door close right in my face."It's game time" I say to myself and I sprint to the back door to be met with all the men of the pack fighting with multiple people and wolves outside. Blood already being shed. "What took you so long!" My brother yells to me. I ignore him and continue to think to myself. Who are they..? I hurriedly shift into my wolf. I look around before I spot a much larger wolf than I've ever seen.
A rouge...
Is that the one I've been told about for so long?
