CHAPTER 10

"AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR OUR FIVE-TIME STAR DAZZLE AWARD WINNER, Miss Sharpay Evans, singing this year with our assistant golf pro, Mr Troy Bolton." Fulton announces as the wildcats gather in the back of the audience,

"Where is Troy?" Sharpay asks looking around for him.

"Hey." Troy says, out of breath from running from the music room to here, done practicing with Kelsey. "Why did you switch songs?"

"Switch songs? What?" Sharpay asks confused.

"Yeah, Ryan said..." Troy trails off when he sees Ryan's smile.

"Bolton!" Fulton calls, grabbing Troy and pushing him onto the stage,

"But I didn't learn a new song."

"Exactly." Ryan mutters causing Sharpay to gasp.

Her friends look at each other before following after Ryan.

"Girls!"

Troy walks onto the stage, nervously. He clears his throat softly before nodding to Kelsey. Kelsey begins to play as Troy brings the microphone up to his mouth.

"Once in a lifetime
Means there's no second chance
So I believe that you and me
Should grab it while we can." Troy sings.

"Make it last forever
And never give it back." Y/N sings from behind their friends. Troy looks around shocked, recognizing her voice.

"It's our turn
and I'm loving where we're at
Because this moment's really
all we have." Troy and Y/N lock eyes as their friends separate, showing Y/N as a spotlight shines on her. She smiles at Troy as the audience claps for her, her walking towards the stage.

"Every day of our lives
Wanna find you there
Wanna hold on tight
Gonna run
While we're young
And keep the faith." Troy walks down the stairs of the stage as Y/N walks closer.

"Every day
From right now
Gonna use our voices
and scream out loud
Take my hand
Together we will celebrate." Y/N finally reaches Troy. She holds out her hand to him, him grasping it. Troy pulls her into him as he rests her forehead against hers, both smiling widely.

"Celebrate
Oh, every day
They say that you should follow
And chase down what you dream
But if you get lost and lose yourself
What does it really mean?" Troy leads Y/N onto the stage as they sing.

"No matter where we're going
Oh, yeah, it starts from where we are
There's more to life
When we listen to our hearts
And because of you
I've got the strength to start." As they sing, Troy grabs Y/N's hand and places it on his chest. He pecks her nose quickly causing her to scrunch it at the feeling. She smiles as they skip over towards Kelsey, their hands intertwined.

Every day of our lives

Gonna run
While we're young
And keep the faith."

"Oh, every day
From right now
Gonna use our voices
and scream out loud
Take my hand
Together we will celebrate
