"Where do you we go now?" I asked.

"I don't know but we'll survive."

-

[two days after the escape]

"Carl?"

No reply.

"Carl?!" I shouted as I carried a sleepy Judith in my arms.

"What?!" He snapped, turning to me.

"My legs are killing me. Judith is exhausted, we have to stop." I told him in a concerned tone.

We had been walking for one whole day straight. As we continued to walk on what felt like an everlasting road, my legs ached so much that I had a burning sensation with every step I took. My breathing was at a fast pace and I felt extremely lightheaded.

"We can't stop in the middle of no where!" He shouted causing Judith to jump slightly.

"Hey don't fucking raise your voice! We don't want to be running in to trouble right now do we? Especially because of how vulnerable we are." I whisper shouted.

Carl glared at me, looking as though he wanted to literally punch me in the throat, even though the feeling was very mutual.

Five minutes later and my legs began to become weak and I fell on to the floor with Judith in my arms.

"Hey! Fucking watch it!" Carl shouted.

I laid there on the floor as I had Judith lying on my chest, slowly drifting to sleep. Carl stared at me and then sighed.

"Okay fine... We can rest but just for like ten minutes." He said plopping down next to me.

"I'm sorry..." I breathed.

"Don't you dare say that!" He shouted.

"What the fuck is your problem?!" I said punching him with all the strength I had at that moment, which was not a huge amount.

"Just shut up..." He said bringing his knees up and burying his head in to them.

"Please talk to me..."

"Just shut up!... Please." He snapped, lifting his head up to look at me.

I could see the tears in his eyes forming but he tried his best to hold them back and blink them away. I reached for his hand and held it tightly as I looked in to his eyes.

"Everything is going to be okay." I said even though I hated that sentence and I knew myself that our chances of surviving were very slim.

I get it now. Why people said that to me. It was a sense of safety and security. People would say it to me even when I knew that something would go terribly wrong. But it gave me hope. And hope was now something people only dreamed of having right now, because this world we live in is hell and we can never escape it.

*3 hours later*

"Hey Carl, I see something!" I said turning my head back to Carl who was a small distance behind me.

"What is it? Walkers?" He shouted.

"No, it's a building! I don't know, a school maybe."

"Does it look safe?" He said catching up to me and now walking by my side.

"It looks untouched but it could be walker infested." I said.

"Hm... Nah, it shouldn't be, theres a small town not far from here, the place probably only had about two classes of about 30 kids."
