I'm really, really sorry I haven't updated for a while. It was my birthday, so I couldn't really be all anti-sociable and spend the day on Wattpad. Then, last, my sister claimed she needed the computer for her homework (she didn't), then she spent so long on there that by the time she was finished Dad needed it for the rest of the day. Today, I really really rushed this so I could update, so there will probably be even more typos than normal. Sorry about that. But it's a longer chapter than normal. Almost two thousand, four hundred words! Do I get a bit of forgiveness for that?
14: Josie
Yes! A home. I had somewhere to go. Everything would be okay, now. I could just stay at the care home place until my powers had developed, and then Hephzibah would guide me back to Willow Forest. Simple.
Mavis looked at Brendon. "Josephine's room?"
He nodded.
Mavis opened the door. "JOSIE!" She yelled. "CAN YOU COME HERE, PLEASE?"
I wondered whether Josie was another adult like Mavis and Brendon, or an animal. I could hear somebody running down the stairs.
"Funnily enough, this placement is for children aged ten to fourteen years old." Mavis said. "So you can stay here, and everybody else will be your age."
"Here." A very tall girl, who was probably about the same age as me except her height could have made her older, was standing and smiling at me. She had a round face, fairly pale skin and golden hair that was somewhat between blonde, ginger, brown and red. Her eyes were blue, but such a pale blue that they were going on grey, making them somehow strongly resemble the sky.
"Olivia, this is Josie Shepherd. Josie, this is Olivia Green." Mavis introduced. "Olivia is going to be staying here for a while. We don't know how long, but for the time being, she's going to be sharing a room with you. We'll move some things up for her in a minute, but for now, Josie, will you give her the grand tour?"
"Okay!" Josie nodded eagerly. Either she liked giving people the grand tour, or she was just this enthusiastic for everything. She dragged me into the hallway, as Brendon shut the kitchen door. Were all the doors always shut here?
"Hi!" She said. "I'm Josephine. Or Josie. Or Jos. Or J. I don't mind which. And I'm ten years, nine months, three weeks and two days old. You're Olivia, right?"
"Yes." I instantly warmed to Josephine/Josie/Jos/J. She seemed like the nice, kind, cheerful, bubbly friend people always have in books.
"So, this is the hallway." She said.
