It has been forever since I updated for you guys!!! Thank you so much for all the views! 1,100 is a lot more than I ever expected to get from such a lovely community! If you have any ideas for future adventures for Caroline and Spencer, comment them or message me! I would love to know.
After reviewing the case for the sixtieth time, Caroline sat back in the airline seat. She heaved an exhausted sigh and turned to look out the jet's window. The sky was dark with small pinpoints of light coming from below. The cities were still awake.
"They do know it is three in the morning, right?" Caroline asked Spencer, who was perched on his seat, reading a book. "I mean, who is up at three in the morning?"
"You are for one," Spencer replied, turning the page. "And the pilot. We'd be doomed without him."
Caroline shook her head. "You're a funny one," she said with a sarcastic tone. Spencer ignored her remark and continued to read. Caroline counted silently to herself, the seconds it took between page turns.
'one... two... three...' A page turned. She repeated the process until he was done with the book. With a sigh, Spencer closed the book and settled back into his chair. He watched Caroline for a second before asking, "Do you want to quiz each other?"
Caroline obliged with an eager nod. Quizing each other with random facts seen in books or learned from listening into conversations was her favorite thing to do with Spencer.
"You first," she cajoled, crossing her legs infront of her.
"Alright," Spencer said, adjusting his position. "What happened in Russia on April 26th, 1986?" He sat back with a sastisfied smile.
"Oh, thats novice!" Caroline exclaimed, sitting on her feet. Spencer's smile disappeared."The Chernobyl disaster happened. It was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history, in terms of casualties and cost." After finishing, she relaxed into her seat, satisfied with herself. Spencer jumped up.
"How did you know that?! The last time I checked, I was the only one who read the book!" The shock on his face was blatant, and the other team members turned in their seats to watch. Morgan chuckled groggily. "You've found your match, Pretty Boy."
