That night was terrible.
The dreams clouded my mind. flashes of light, pain, noise, and unnerving feelings, too much.
I awoke to the steady beat of Spencer's heart. I sat up, and wiggled beneath the blanket the nurse must have put over me last night.
I looked around the room. Nobody else was here. just Spence and i. I peeked through the blinds, squinting through the blinding sunlight. it must be late in the morning.
I struggled out of bed, and stretched, raising my arms above my head. I yawned, and finally relaxed.
I leaned over Spencer, careful of his wound.
"Spencer," I whispered, wanting to see if he was awake.
"Mm?" he opened his eyes, and gave me a sleepy smile. "good morning."
Returning a smile, I stood back up. "more like 'good afternoon.' I don't know what time it is."
"We slept that late?" He struggled to sit up, heart rate increasing when the pain shot through him. "Caroline, you can leave if you want. you don't have to stay here."
I met his tired eyes, and gave him a pathetic smile. "I'm glad you think I have other things to do, Spence. but you know I'm never going to leave."
"Fine. but I don't want your life to revolve around me. understand?"
"No, I dont," I said with a smirk.
He mumbled something under his breath before sighing.
"Okay. i'm too tired and too sore to care at this point."
